Black Bess Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 History Lesson Have a history teacher explain this----- if they can. Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946. Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960. Both were particularly concerned with civil rights. Both wives lost their children while living in the White House. Both Presidents were shot on a Friday. Both Presidents were shot in the head. Now it gets really weird. Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy. Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln. Both were assassinated by Southerners. Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson. Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839. Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939. Both assassins were known by their three names. Both names are composed of fifteen letters. Now hang on to your seat. Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.' Kennedy was shot in a car called ' Lincoln' made by 'Ford.' Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse. Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater. Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials. And here's the kicker... A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe. "Life's good, and why wouldn't it be? I'm a pirate after all."
oderlesseye Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Whoooaa! :) http://www.myspace.com/oderlesseyehttp://www.facebook....esseye?ref=nameHangin at Execution dock awaits. May yer Life be a long and joyous adventure in gettin there! As he was about to face the gallows there, the pirate is said to have tossed a sheaf of papers into the crowd, taunting his audience with these final words: "My treasure to he who can understand."
Zephaniah W Nash Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Well, I don't know about a teacher, but how about a statistician...? from the Skeptical Inquirer There's some fairly hifalutin' stats and math and stats and stuff in the article, and it doesn't get to bearing directly on these until about halfway down the page. Or, there's a simpler version here, which goes through the similarities one at a time.
jessie k. Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Yeah, the only problem with that is that Lincoln wasn't actually particularly interested in civil rights, that's just the spin that history has given it. But other than that, yeah, that's pretty bizarre. "When we remember we are all mad, the mysteries disappear, and life stands explained." --Mark Twain
The Doctor Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Jessie, you beat me to the punch. Lincoln wasn't concerned with freeing the slaves until over three years into the Civil War. Why? Because they had nowhere to effectively house the slaves after the North had occupied Southern territory. It was never a war over "civil rights." It was a war over state's rights. No flames, please. I'm just stating fact. I'm no proponent of slavery (which is still rife within Africa, by the by), no more than I am of political correctness. It is what it is. Yo ho ho! Or does nobody actually say that?
Patrick Hand Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I've heard most of that before..... But liked the last one..... A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, MarylandA week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe. Never having been to Monroe, Maryland.... I can't say for certain..... but I'd guess that Marilyn Monroe was a lot more fun......... Was that a typo ? was he with, or in Marilyn Monroe? Enquiring (Dirty) minds wanna know.....

Anyone who's read about Lincoln in Fifth grade knows that. (Or, at least I did.) Heh. But this was from an email a friend sent me, and I was too lazy to update it. Still, 'concerned' with Civil Rights at least meant they were involved, I suppose. "Life's good, and why wouldn't it be? I'm a pirate after all."
