A good buddy has taking a liking to the hat pictured here. Does anyone know anything about it? Is this historically accurate? Is it GAoP? Is it or anything like it available anywhere?

aye looks much like the journey cap Townsend carries.

A monmouth cap would be more appropriate to the GAoP. THose were worn well before period. Tis always safer to go earlier rather than later. Our own GOF has them avalible on occassion. Tis also an easy knittin project even for the beginners amongst us.

Merchant Jas. Townsend tries to recreate things as close as possible.

Actually, Townsend tries to make clothing as cheaply as possible. Much of their clothing is poorly made and not historically accurate at all. Especially the women's clothing.

I know nothing of this hat or its relevance to the GAoP. But I wouldn't use the fact that Townsend makes it a vote for it's historicity.

Besides, Townsend doesn't do GAoP. Their period starts with F&I, a good forty years later.
