Black Syren Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Pirate Sword with Certificate and smaller dagger Is it worth it? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v519/Dara286/trident01-11.png If you got a dream chase it, cause a dream won't chase you back...(Cody Johnson Till you Can't)
kerrystagmer Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 I love ' Twisted rubber handle' in the description... It seems VERY expensive for what it is.. Just my snobby opinion!
Capt. Bo of the WTF co. Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Nothing from Frost is worth $2.50- let alone $250! Save yer plunder for a good blade. My experience with anything from Frost is that it is flea market junk, and nothing more. Sorry to spoil the scene M'Lady, but I wouldn't want to know you were throwing good money away. Bo
callenish gunner Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 darlin' i'd have to agree with the last 2 gents!!! that sword is not worth melting it down and reforging a screwdriver out of it and as to it having a certificate i can sell any sword and make a piece of paper to go with it if you want a certificate ....save your money and keep looking for another sword
William Brand Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Pirate Sword with Certificate and smaller daggerIs it worth it? Is it worth what? When it comes to bad weapons, I have to be blunt. No pun intended. A poorly made weapon is an insult. Poor weapons are not weapons at all, they are props, and to bend so far as to call that a prop is still a blasphemy to Hephaestus. My opinion in some matters is not subtle.
Gentleman of Fortune Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Thats the first of 1st of 10,000..... hmmmmm can't sell the other 9999 either I guess. Posiedon, I think that it is generally accepted in the sword community, that stainless steel swords are for decoration only. If you really like the looks of that sword, and $250 is no big deal to you, than by all means, scratch the itch and get it. But I imagine that googling--- Frost Cutlery "Pirates Of Skull Island" would find it a little cheaper. Capt. Sterling Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Unless you like that fantasy look, I certainly wouldn't purchase it.... "I being shot through the left cheek, the bullet striking away great part of my upper jaw, and several teeth which dropt down the deck where I fell... I was forced to write what I would say to prevent the loss of blood, and because of the pain I suffered by speaking."~ Woodes Rogers Crewe of the Archangel http://jcsterlingcptarchang.wix.com/creweofthearchangel# http://creweofthearchangel.wordpress.com/
Black Syren Posted September 14, 2006 Author Posted September 14, 2006 Im not going to buy it, Just thought to post it and see what opinions would be and if it was even worth it. But thanks for all the feedback. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v519/Dara286/trident01-11.png If you got a dream chase it, cause a dream won't chase you back...(Cody Johnson Till you Can't)
Capt Thighbiter Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 I agree with all on the quality of Frost items. However if your wanting the genuine article, they a website Joesalter.com He deals in actual antique guns and blades and has a VERY nice cutlass there now. Spendy, but then the real deal usualy is. Pirate music at it's best, from 1650 onwards The Brigands
Rumba Rue Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 I had to snicker when I saw the pictures. Geesh, there's tons of stuff far better and by far better crafters than that. The price is way too high, I at best would give $50.00 for the two.
Monterey Jack Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Bwwahahahaha!!!!! <sniff> Seriously......$250? Free "Bowie"? Is there a way to cyber-slap these people? Monterey Jack "yes I am a pirate 200 years too late, the cannons don't thunder, there's nothin to plunder, I'm an over-40 victim of fate, arrivin too late.........."
Silkie McDonough Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 I think I saw the same design in rubber at the halloween costume store.
Tall Paul Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 "The bowie knife retails for $240.00 and is included here for free." I think that that says it all. I can only assume that the Certificate is hand illuminated on pure vellum, and is worth $200, because there is no way that I would pay more than $50 for the sword. And ten, only to be used for comic effect. Taul Paul. Cpt "Tall Paul" Adams Colchester Historical Enactment Society (C.H.E.S.)
