Jib Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 The Pirate Magazine that we all spoke of long ago is on stands now. I found my copy at Barnes and Noble under the topic of "entertainment". I looked at first under history topics where I found Fairy Magazine and Ren Magazine. Near Starlog, Entertainment, and TV Guide was where I located it. On first glance it looks pretty good. Now the big question is: will it last?
jim hawkins Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Yep just got mine at barns and nobles (which always sounds like the name of a medeival agrarian RPG but I digress)...Its nifty.
flying-dutch-man Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 do you think they will have them at books-a-million? i am goin' there this weekend! so....do you think they will have it? "yoho, hoho,a pirates life for me!"
Black Mariah Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 They were not carrying it at my local Barnes & Noble but I did find it at Borders. I suppose any large bookstore might carry it.
flying-dutch-man Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 i do hope books-a-million has them! "yoho, hoho,a pirates life for me!"
Jib Posted September 7, 2006 Author Posted September 7, 2006 I have seen it in Borders too! It was near Ren Magazine and Fairie Magazine. Books a Million might handle remainders and overstock books and may not carry this little gem.
flying-dutch-man Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 nooooooooooo!!!! "yoho, hoho,a pirates life for me!"
Jib Posted September 8, 2006 Author Posted September 8, 2006 I'd still check Books a Million, maybe you can ask. You might be able to order one directly from the publisher too.
King's Pyrate Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 I got mine today at Barnes and Nobles in St. Augustine....(Thanks for the tip)...It is just GREAT!!!!!....they have done a wonderful job and with it out for the general public to see I am sure we will be getting some new recruits in the near future. KP
pirateslife4me Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 I got my copy a couple weeks ago at Borders. It's pretty sweet. I like how it shows when all the pirate events are.
Jib Posted September 11, 2006 Author Posted September 11, 2006 I do believe that there is a plug for this forum in that magazine as well!
Rumba Rue Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Over the weekend at the Dana Pt. Tall Ships Festival, the No Quarter Given booth had them and sold out. My friend bought two, and I looked through it. There's way too many pictures of Louie Lambie (whom by the way I now understand is a stand in for Johnny Depp- in the far shots) as if he's the only guy who can be a pirate... and there is a picture of my friend Dawn on pg. 50, she's wearing a mask. I also felt there were far too many ads and not enough substance to warrant my buying it. I'll wait and see if it gets better.
oderlesseye Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I'll donate mine to ya Rumba when I'm done thumbing thru it. I doubt it ever become a collectors item in my life tyme anyhow, although I do concider it a novelty to have. Mary says Hi.. http://www.myspace.com/oderlesseyehttp://www.facebook....esseye?ref=nameHangin at Execution dock awaits. May yer Life be a long and joyous adventure in gettin there! As he was about to face the gallows there, the pirate is said to have tossed a sheaf of papers into the crowd, taunting his audience with these final words: "My treasure to he who can understand."
Rumba Rue Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Hey, I'll take the donation! Hi Mary, Hi Ron!
Jib Posted September 21, 2006 Author Posted September 21, 2006 Well things often start out slow and rather rough. I just hope the Mag lives long enough.
andelew Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Aye for those of us who dont frequent the forum but have been around a while, what be the name of this Gem? Texas Terror the Flat Land Pyrate -- guitarist abord the land Yacht "Lady Gale"
Killian Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Does anyone know if the magazine has a website?
Killian Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 For those of you looking for the site as I was the URL is http://piratesmagazine.com/
flying-dutch-man Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 arrrr....i goin' to subscribe! . F-D-M "yoho,hoho,a pirates life for me!"
John_Young Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I got a subscription, first issue came within a week. Layout is nice. Could do without the cards in it. Could use more articles too. It was a bit annoying to have reprints of 2 articles from NQG that I've read too many times before too... "Yo Ho, all together hoist the colours high Heave Ho, theives and beggers Never shall we die..." "I don't care who ye say you are lad, if ye say 'savvy' one more time, I'll bury this cutlass in that thick skull of yers!" -Captain John Young - PILF
