the Royaliste
Ahoy there, all you scallywags on the Southern East Coast!....The organizers just slipped me the dispatches,and.....The Charleston,S.C. Maritime Festival will be held May 17-20,2007,so.....Off the record, this will most likely be the 'kick-off' point for the Tallships Challenge 2007 up the East Coast, with four ports already signed on...Also, for those of you piratically inclined, I'm thinkin' there'll already be a black and gold sloop 'o war sportin' six carronades and flyin' her Jolly Roger in them waters by the fall 'o this year!.....Swashbucklin' 101 comin' yer way, eh? Black Hearted Pearl
Thanks for the heads up. Me mate and I were just talking about taking a family trip to me birthplace of Charleston, SC. Sounds like a good time to take the trip with the Challenge and all. ~Black Hearted Pearl The optimist expects the wind. The pessimist complains about the wind. The realist adjusts the sails. Captain Jim-sib
Har be some important websites for ye: Charleston Maritime Fest: http://www.charlestonmaritimefestival.com/ 2007 Atlantic Tall Ship Challenbe: http://sailtraining.org/contribute/2007TSC...lanticCoast.htm Several years back at the Charleston Fest, the neighbors in the high rise condos next to the Maritime Center complained about the shooting of blackpowder guns. Casabel's lady, I recall, got really hot when the Maritime Center gave-in & said "no firing demonstrations". The Charleston show has declined since then due to (1) lack of publicity, and (2) lack of tall ships. Plan to be at the Charleston & Virginia Shows with me wares. Virginia will be celebrating their 400th year, so the sail event in Norfolk will be big celebration. Royaliste, tis about time I place year fine ship in a bottle. Best regards to ye all (oophs, not in Charleston)

the Royaliste
Aye......I'll be missin' this one tooo, as we're ported for a while in Beaufort, NC, home 'o Blackbeard, and I started the post!...After a hard sail to Charleston for the convention, a rough trip north and running aground( which cost us and many donatin' pirates muchos doubloons), and no stipend to appear, I backed her back down...I can't subsidize too many cities, anyhoo!....But don't fear, me bucko's, as the Pyrat Ship ROYALISTE will be in Norfolk, guns blazin', before we disappear from the map for a while!...Also in Portsmouth for the Jamestown event, and Hampton, for the Pirate Fest, Wot else, eh? Captain Jim-sib
Just returned from the Charleston Maritime Festival. A Grand time it twas. Enjoyed seeing again many of the Brethren that were at Bath & Beaufort, NC. Though I t'wer busy with me fleets-in-flasks booth during the day, it was nice to share an evening dram of the ol Pyrat Rum with the crew after yer long day with activities that you were doing with the folks of "Chucktown". Unfortunately, twas unable to get shots of the gun demonstrations, yet the sounds from my end of the festival were impressive. Some picture links fer ye all.
