Syera Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 My sister got it into her head a few years ago that she wanted a tricorn for her birthday. Me, like a complete moron, told her I'd get one for her. Despite all my hopes of her forgetting this, she's still determined to get a tricorn for her birthday (which is four days away). However, not being much of a tricorn-savvy shopper, I'm a little clueless as to what I should be purchasing. So, can anyone point me to someplace online where I can get my hands on a tricorn that's under thirty dollars, but is of a reasonable quality? It doesn't have to be replete with shiny dingly-bobs - even a plain one would be just fine, just so long as it's durable enough to stand up to a fair amount of hat-type abuse.
Blackfoot Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Greetings Syera from your local humble pyrate Captain Blackfoot. This question has been asked in the past and I have a good reference for you. There is a vendor who sells authentic period hats at a good price ($35.00) not to mention a HUGE selection of period items ranging from period games to musical instruments. The company is Jas. Townsend and this page will take you directly to the men's hats. I suggest the hand finished one. Best regards. -Blackfoot http://jas-townsend.com/index.php?cPath=6 ]
Capt. Sterling Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I totally agree with Blackfoot on the choice of Townsend for a simple, inexpensive and very nice cocked hat. If she was truly into the Living History aspect of the hobby I would say Dirty Billy's Hats, but now you are talking long wait time and huge bucks but well worth every penny...in which case, maybe next year. I was forced to write what I would say to prevent the loss of blood, and because of the pain I suffered by speaking."~ Woodes Rogers Crewe of the Archangel http://jcsterlingcptarchang.wix.com/creweofthearchangel# http://creweofthearchangel.wordpress.com/
