Hester Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Okay, well, tomorrow I leave for a month at my cottage. Today, I'm doing laundry and cleaning the house (or at least contemplating it), so that everything will be ship-shape and Bristol fashion when I eventually return. Tonight, I'm doing some last-minute shopping (including a stop at the liquor store). And then, I just need to pack. But, I'm feeling a bit scattered and I'm afraid I might forget to bring something important. So, I'm asking for the Pub's collective advice: What essentials does a young(ish) Ship's [shanty] Mistress need to bring with her for a month-long sojourn on the shores of a northern lake? [Don't be afraid to get creative with your suggestions.] Cheers, Hester

Food and a pirate who cooks I'm trying to Shanghai Jamie Oliver as we speak. Ship and a pirate who ....OWNS one. Still tryin' to talk my own personal Capt. J. into buying one. Cheers, Hester

Black Bess Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Pirate Bikini! I was going to say ' Pirate thong' but a bikini works better! "Life's good, and why wouldn't it be? I'm a pirate after all."
Hester Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 Pirate Bikini! Hi, Siren & Bess: Well ... my bikini days are quite a few pounds ago. However, I do have a sleek black Speedo in my bag. Earlier this summer, I sewed this fabulous pirate patch onto the bodice: Alas, the ink was not colourfast, and the first time I swam in it, the patch ran. I had to meticulously pick out the stitches to remove the patch and salvage the suit. I'm now on the lookout for a replacement patch with a piratey theme (but I'll test its colourfastness first before I sew it on this time). Cheers, Hester
Hester Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 laptop computer Aye, Rue: J.'s bringing his to use as a portable DVD player. But, there's no internet connection up there, so I won't be able to access the Pub with it. Cheers, Hester
