JohnnyTarr
Ok my share of the loot come to 100 pieces of eight, one thumnail sized gem, and a cutlass. Now we have come into port. What can I expect to get for how much? Interested in anything from rum to the price of a woman. Unless there is a good looking pirate lass that wants to join with me for a few hours . Git up of your asses, set up those glasses I'm drinking this place dry.

blackjohn
Ed Foxe did a good job of combing through Port Royal probates on the Pirate Brethren forum. Look here. And I posted this link to Plymouth probates. These give a good idea of what people owned and what it was valued at. JohnnyTarr
That is the site I found ONCE before. I had it bookmarked and everything. Then I got broadsidded with a virus and I had to reformat. Now between that and the probates I can start on my history. Man this is fun. Git up of your asses, set up those glasses I'm drinking this place dry. sirhenrymorgan
This is an intriguing site to play with as well. It calculates buying power from 1665 to present. http://eh.net/hmit/ppowerusd/ I used it once to show that a friend's house he purchased for 40,000 in 1975 and was appraised at $145,000 in 2005 hadn't really appreciated in value in terms of buying power. Shot him right through the heart as his $105,000 in profit vanished in the face of inflation. -- Sir Henry "Land only holds promise if men at sea have the courage to fight for it." - Sir Henry
