I have been authorized by Dave Grossman, the author of The Two-Space War, to generate some cross-genre interest in his book. We want to mail a signed (first printing, first edition, hardback) copy of the book to a member of this board who might be interested.

Why here? This book uses a lot of nautical fiction from the age of pirates . The only way to travel faster than light is using something called two-space that destroys most advanced technology, leaving humanity at early 19th century level. The characters are in the navy, protecting humanity's kingdom of Westerness from evil alien empires using 24 pounder cannons and single shot muskets and sailing on wooden ships with real sails.

Why in the shanty area? While there are very few shanties in the book, it uses poetry as a sort of 'theme music' in the background of dramatic scenes. One of the reviewers call the book:

-Guns, guts, glory, and poetry (?) in the far reaches of the galaxy.

Another reviewer referred to it as:

-A book combining Tolkien, poetry, old-time naval warfare, military studies and science fiction is either going to go very wrong or very right, and this one does it right,

and

-Horatio Hornblower meets Tolkien by way of Heinlein in "a world of intentional, creative anachronism, a hodge-podge of Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian technology", inhabited by hobbits both valourous and cowardly, elves who aren't all that good, and curs who aren't all that bad.

-It has Heinlen, Jack Aubrey, and Killology [reality of combat] all rolled into one great book.
