Red Maria
There was a pretty good documentary on Capt. Henry Morgan last night on the Discovery Times channel. Richard Earle (Pirate Wars) and Ronald Hutton (goodeness knows why he was on!). It should among other things Morgan's Ship's Articles and letter of Marque. If you see it listed watch it! :)
Hawkyns
Ronald Hutton? The guy with all the books about early Pagan Europe? One of the profs at Bristol U? I know he does some 17th C because he was doctoral advisor to one of my friends who was doing his thesis on ECW sieges. Din't know he was into the pirate world, though. Hawkyns Cannon add dignity to what otherwise would be merely an ugly brawl I do what I do for my own reasons. I do not require anyone to follow me. I do not require society's approval for my actions or beliefs. if I am to be judged, let me be judged in the pure light of history, not the harsh glare of modern trends. hurricane
I'll have to check it out and see who ended up playing me. I was originally supposed to do the part of Captain Morgan but they were paying crap for the role. I would have lost money on the deal so I had to pass. Hope they did him justice... -- Hurricane -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed.
