Red-Handed Jill Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 The freeway maintenance folks have just cut down the anise along a stretch of freeway. In my afternoon commute, after it has had a chance to warm up, it smells great!
Red Cat Jenny Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 OOh Jill that sounds divine! We have Russian Olives along the parkway and at a certain time of year the scent is almost overwhelming when the wind hits them. Also the mint in the garden when the sun hits it. mmmm Who needs airwick? Nature has her own fresheners ! Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.... Red-Handed Jill Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I live north of Gilroy, the garlic capital of the world. On a warm day it's wonderful to drive through there. I loooove garlic!
LongTom Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I love all sorts of smells. Whenever a smell enhances a situation I revel in it. It's like it makes the world more vibrant and colorful. Garlic and onions frying for a fresh batch of spaghetti ... vanilla, egg and sugar, for homemade ice cream ... cut grass and a watered lawn at the end of a day of yardwork ... nice perfume ... sun-warmed skin... Aye.
Ransom Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Opening the tack room door and smelling the blend of leather and horse. Ahhhh.... The aquatic mixture surrounding a pond - damp earth, plants, moss,... A smell almost impossible to really describe, but wonderful. The smell of ozone and rain during a summer lightning storm. ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... You can do everything right, strictly according to procedure, on the ocean, and it'll still kill you. But if you're a good navigator, a least you'll know where you were when you died.......From The Ship Killer by Justin Scott.
