Black Hearted Pearl
November 10, 2005 13:00 EST the Tall Ship Hawaiian Chieftain departed the dock in Greenport, New York bound for San Diego, California via the Panama Canal. After entering the Pacific Ocean she will sail north to rendezvous with the Tall Ship Lady Washington in Southern California. The two ships will then sail in company northbound to Hawaiian Chieftain's new homeport in Westport, Washington. Tonight the Hawaiian Chieftain will anchor in Little Neck Bay, New York and tomorrow morning she will proceed through Hell's Gate with the ebbing tide. After a salute to friends and fellow sailors at South Street Seaport, they will set a course past Liberty Island for the open sea. Although her next scheduled port of call is Miami, weather on the East Coast may cause our ship's Captain to deviate from the plan for the safety of our ship and crew. Once in Miami they will fuel up, take on provisions and clear outbound customs for the downwind run through the Windward Passage to Panama. While in Miami the ship will also receive a new ship's computer and satellite phone which will ensure daily e-mail updates of the voyage progress. As we did with the Lady Washington on her return from the Caribbean, we will forward these reports along with other information, photos, weather and related website information (You can watch online as the ship travels through the Panama Canal!). If you would like to receive the Hawaiian Chieftain's Ship's Log, just send an e-mail to our Marine Operations Manager, Bob Kennedy at ghhsabob@comcast.net <mailto:ghhsabob@comcast.net> and on the subject line write Subscribe HAWAIIAN CHIEFTAIN log. We are excited about this new addition to our fleet, and will be eagerly watching her progress. We hope you will join us! Capt. Diego Santana de la Vega
wait! is there something in this for pyrates? is the timeline for reaching the world famous San Diego harbor within this years end or just after? I mean hell what we have here is an excellent opportunity to get all fussed up and invade the docks in garb! Lets start a thread once we find out if they (the ships people would appreciate a say a hundred or so bored with basketball pirates) and find out if we all can come down to the docks in San Diego and welcome them in and entertain all the looky loos visitin the ships there! Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a knife in your back.
Black Hearted Pearl
She'll be here in about 3 weeks meeting up with the Lady Washington. As far as showing up as a pirate, it depends on who is Captaining the Lady Washington. Sometimes the Captains aren't too fond of pirates and take all the fun out of it. I wonder if Royaliste is going to join in any of the battle sails? Those would be the ones to show up in garb for. :) ~Black Hearted Pearl The optimist expects the wind.
