I'D give 'em a short life; let them worry about the merry part!

Shipmates, we can play the pirate game because it's fun; but remember that these guys are not playing games, they are for real. People who are preying on honest seafarers, murdering and raping and stealing, deserve a quick death.

Want to know the difference between old time pirates and new ones?

Their guns.

Yer right, Rumba Rue! And that's my point exactly. The pirates of old, like the pirates of today, were not / are not admirable people at all. We merely choose to paint a romanticized version of them; as we do with Old West gunslingers, or sometimes, modern mobsters. (Don Corleone was a far more moral man than most corporate or government mangers! ;) But I doubt that REAL gangsters are anywhere near as scrupulous as this reel one).

As long as we understand that we are admiring a romanticized version of the real scumbags, it's O.K.
