John_Young Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Well I was raiding the aisle of the local Toys Arrrr Us plundering Star Wars figures when I happened to wander over to the Lego section. Seems that Mega Bloks, the company that puts out Dragons, is now releasing a set called Pyrates! They have 3 different crews: The Privateers, the Mauraders, and the Skeleton Crew. Yes, the Skeleton Crew are... well, skeletons. They're coming out with 3 skulls that open up to become islands, each has 3 figures. Pouches with 2 figures and treasure inside. The Maurader ship and the Skeleton ship. A pyrate isle playset. The figures are very detailed, much more so than old school lego figs. Find them today, or explore: Pyrates homepage "Yo Ho, all together hoist the colours high Heave Ho, theives and beggers Never shall we die..." Black Syren Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 I work for Toys R Us. These are just a trial for the moment. If they do as well as the Dragons we will keep them and they are really cool sets. I have seen them all. So all ye pirates out there go forth and plunder...errr...spill yer coins fer these so we can have more pirate toys fer ourselves. I mean kiddies.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v519/Dara286/trident01-11.png If you got a dream chase it, cause a dream won't chase you back...(Cody Johnson Till you Can't)
John_Young Posted June 22, 2005 Author Posted June 22, 2005 Shame that my local TRU is the worst in the world. Always months behind the other TRUs and the employees have the combined IQ of a sea cucumber. Must get more pyrates... Black Syren Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 Unfortunately Toys R Us knows almost nothing about Piracy..or cool pirate toys..however Im hoping to change that..and If i can get back on my feet quick enough.*from my motorcycle accident* Our store will have a big event for Talk Like a Pirate Day. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v519/Dara286/trident01-11.png If you got a dream chase it, cause a dream won't chase you back...(Cody Johnson Till you Can't)
Charity Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 Here at Bart Smit i went to get a birthday gift for my friend's little girl and saw this HUGE box with a pirate ship etc.. I decided not to look what it cost..
John_Young Posted June 26, 2005 Author Posted June 26, 2005 Megablocks are so much more reasonable than Legos. Better in some regards too. Fer instance the 2 MB Pyrate ships run 40-60 each. Compare that to Lego where it would be $100 or more. Then again, ye could have been looking at the cheapy toy company that is making building block ships, they have both a pirate and a skeleton pirate ship. But they're like $20-$25 each. Very good deal. Then of course there's Playmobil. Their items run about $40-$100 depending. "Yo Ho, all together hoist the colours high Heave Ho, theives and beggers Never shall we die..."
