Scouse_Seadog
Stan Rogers is a great Canadian Maritime singer. His songs are almost exclusively about the sea and include traditional stuff as well. He also wrote the famous pirate related song, Barrett's privateers. Although Stan died in 1990, he's still worth giving a listen to.
Trapper
If you want a real tear-jerker, you should listen to Stan's "White Squall". It's a great song. Fair winds, Trapper Captain of the Tinker's Damn
Pynch
"Old Maui" and "Flowers of Bermuda" are still on my list of favorites. And that voice....oh my.... His brother (and fiddler) Garnett is still recording and well worth a listen to as well. He has a rich baritone voice, and gives a really good concert. Indigojack Together we shall sail the sea, best friends we'll always be. William Blydes
Stan is a Canadian Icon. He was tragically killed in an aircraft crash. The story is told that the night before his flight he stayed in the camp area of the festival he played at. He moved from campfire to campfire with his guitar. He didn't sleep all night. The Privateer's Warehouse in Halifax has self proclaimed themselves as Barrett's base of operations and requires every singing act (5nights a week) to sing Barrett's some time in the performance. The 'Lower Deck' pub is done up like the lower deck of a tall ship. No pub night sing along is complete without a half dozzen Stan Rogers songs. William Blydes I don't get lost, I EXPLORE! Blasphemous Bill
Those who love Stan Rogers as much as I do should also check out Gordon Bok a Maritime singer from Maine who is also excellent. BB
