Capt. Morgan Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 If this has already been covered, my apologies... anyone know where a good 19th century style naval hammock can be had? William Brand Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 The hammock is little more than a rectangle of canvas that is gathered at the ends by a hemp rope. Find some heavy duty canvas and put brass eyelets in the ends for the rope. Instant hammock. You can order hammocks at this site. http://www.nicamaka.com/PG-InUseLandscapet.htm Remember, it has to be big enough for them to sew you into it if you get killed.
Capt. Morgan Posted May 10, 2005 Author Posted May 10, 2005 Got it! Last stitch through the nose, and all that! Capt. Morgan Posted May 10, 2005 Author Posted May 10, 2005 Ooooo... I just like the setting... does that come with the hammock, cuz if it does, I'll take two!! the Royaliste Posted May 12, 2005 Posted May 12, 2005 Hmmm, while these are all nice hammocks, they dont address the question as they don't even resemble anything period, eh??...You might assemble your own, capt..pretty simple, but leave out the spreader board, definitely modern, mates....and yes, this has been covered in another thread.....'search engines, anyone?'

Patrick Hand Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Capn_Enigma .... just went to the topic ...... dang..... still have to get the measurements (forgot to ask last weekend when I was there...)
Capn_Enigma Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 The already mentioned Ashley Book Of Knots [in knot # 3820] gives the dimensions as being six feet by three feet. Hope this helps. "The floggings will continue until morale improves!"
Christine Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 I prefer this here hammock. Aye. Hmmm....not sure I'd want to be laying in a hammock that's dangling above the water like that. I have a fear of sharks.....
