Pew Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Very well. Suicide-by-sautee', as it were. Delicious. Any word from Dorian as of late? , Skull and Quill Society , The Watch Dog "We are 21st Century people who play a game of dress-up and who spend a lot of time pissing and moaning about the rules of the game and whether other people are playing fair."
William Brand Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 Business on the coast keeps his life full. New work and new environs. He'll be back. He likes a good drink.
Silkie McDonough Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Good lads! Tis warmin to a woman's heart t'see y'both well! As you see Mr.Pew, the captain is never far from the "Kate" even if it is only close in his heart. Captain, I have a well fed chicken that is no longer laying. I was going to serve her this evening at the Hyde but with such company as I have here I will have it brought to the fire here for those who care to join us if it pleases you.
William Brand Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 Aye. Roast the thing. We'll rob the unkempt vines about the place and see what came up wild in the garden.
Pew Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Excellent. Fine conversation I have not had in awhile. I'd like to see him. If you don't mind, I'd like to raid the stores for some vintage of non-descript liquor. Much to talk about in the last months. , Skull and Quill Society , The Watch Dog "We are 21st Century people who play a game of dress-up and who spend a lot of time pissing and moaning about the rules of the game and whether other people are playing fair."
Silkie McDonough Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I turn away from the door "Cookie!". Shortly after I return with a few of the kitchen staff from the Hyde who set about preparing food for the small group gathered at the Kate. "William, you should hire someone to at least dust the place. I have a girl that is quite good and always looking for work."
William Brand Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 Dust is a clock. We keep no other time in the Kate, but by dust and dirty plates. Now fetch a lamp and let us go into the holds and see what strange, distilled drinks are hiding in the corners among the stores.
Silkie McDonough Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Fetching a lantern from a wall hook I light a fresh candle from the logs now burning in the fireplace and hand the lantern to William. "Lead the way good sir."
Pew Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Captain, those 'strange, distilled drinks' are what keeps me locked to this haunt. Leave the dust, the settled ages. We shall imbibe for those long lost. I miss them so. , Skull and Quill Society , The Watch Dog "We are 21st Century people who play a game of dress-up and who spend a lot of time pissing and moaning about the rules of the game and whether other people are playing fair."
William Brand Posted May 9, 2011 Author Posted May 9, 2011 We'll start off today's menu with a light salad.
Pew Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Delicious. A fine Chianti perhaps. , Skull and Quill Society , The Watch Dog "We are 21st Century people who play a game of dress-up and who spend a lot of time pissing and moaning about the rules of the game and whether other people are playing fair."
CaptainB Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 May a poor wanderer beg a glass of dark, aged rum? "If I believed in fate, I wouldn't be playing with loaded dice..."
Silkie McDonough Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 That is indeed a light salad, so light in fact that I can not see it! lol
Capt. Sterling Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Beg? Never beg lad, besides William is a kind soul, he is more than happy to give away his very best...just do not be shouting that from the roof tops. **props feet upon the table top**...my word but life is dull, perhaps a change is due.... "I being shot through the left cheek, the bullet striking away great part of my upper jaw, and several teeth which dropt down the deck where I fell... I was forced to write what I would say to prevent the loss of blood, and because of the pain I suffered by speaking."~ Woodes Rogers Crewe of the Archangel http://jcsterlingcptarchang.wix.com/creweofthearchangel# http://creweofthearchangel.wordpress.com/
William Brand Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 May a poor wanderer beg a glass of dark, aged rum? Aye. Lets see which of these is the darker.
Silkie McDonough Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Goode Captain Sterling perhaps it is good that your life is dull for a moment. Perhaps you should take said dull moment for yourself and heal thine ills. William, wot better to make good drink better than good conversation? What topic should we discuss? Hmmm ...I am missing Williams image again. I need to check my settings.
Capt. Sterling Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 (edited) oh gad... good conversation? What happened to a good fight? A decent battle? a little action? People are getting far too genteel, all they bloody well want to do is sit around and talk...Algiers was more riveting... **and no image on these antique fossils at school either Edited May 10, 2011 by Capt. Sterling "I being shot through the left cheek, the bullet striking away great part of my upper jaw, and several teeth which dropt down the deck where I fell... Silkie McDonough Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Algiers? Indeed. As to myself becoming too genteel, need I remind you Captain that I must comport myself as a lady but if you wish you and the other rabble here feel free to brawl, tis nay my establishment. What say ye William?
William Brand Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 I'm sorry if the place isn't violent enough.
Pew Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 After a day of bashing the lads, a good quiet repose is in order. William runs a fine genteel establishment. Rum anyone? I found a fine vintage perfect for sipping. Or of course, a large tankard of 'what's out back.' , Skull and Quill Society , The Watch Dog "We are 21st Century people who play a game of dress-up and who spend a lot of time pissing and moaning about the rules of the game and whether other people are playing fair."
William Brand Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 How to make the place more lively...hmmm...I could hide some assassins in a cupboard. I could pass out free drinks and cudgels at closing for a last man standing contest. Losers pay the tab. I could release monkeys. Starving, diseased monkeys.
CaptainB Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Thanks fer the rum! An' I vote fer the cudgels. I'm pretty good with a cudgel. "If I believed in fate, I wouldn't be playing with loaded dice..."
Capt. Sterling Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Monkeys?? Why does it always have to be monkeys?? Ye have this...this... thing with monkeys... ever since Barcelona... t'is monkey this and monkey that... William Brand Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 It isn't always monkeys. Sometimes it's adders.
