William Brand Posted August 17, 2008 Author Posted August 17, 2008 Nicole Dowland deserves much of the credit. She took control of the event and put together and amazing evening, for never having done one before. We filled the theater. Good food. Good guests.
Capt. Sterling Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Wow sounds like an impressive young lady... keep that one! "I being shot through the left cheek, the bullet striking away great part of my upper jaw, and several teeth which dropt down the deck where I fell... I was forced to write what I would say to prevent the loss of blood, and because of the pain I suffered by speaking."~ Woodes Rogers Crewe of the Archangel http://jcsterlingcptarchang.wix.com/creweofthearchangel# http://creweofthearchangel.wordpress.com/
William Brand Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 I need some sunlight for a variety of reasons. Now an act from Hamlet is going through my head.
Silkie McDonough Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Silkie can be seen in the distance dancing a jig to the music of "Tempest". Her flask tucked needly in her pocket so that none could see it. There is no alcohol allowed at the Philadelphia Folk Festival. Mmmmm ...nothing like a cool night in the hills of Pennsylvania to help a lass rest ...after this song. So tell us more? Just a beautiful time. Rather than Pyrate reenacting we do Woodstock reenacting! Work that isn't very much like work, living in a tent city, fantastic music both on and off stage and chosen family that I see once a year. What more can a woman ask for? Oh yea ...and the ego boost that hearing people say things like "I was almost hypmotised while you were singing" and "you need to do that more often". Especially since I get such a rush from singing. I can sing in the shower and be contented but I don't ...hmmm ...I wonder why that is.
Red Cat Jenny Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 In honor of the Olympics and the proprietors taste for Mediterranean foods.. Miss Ashcombe lays out a fine Greek brekkie Date and walnut rolls with honey Fresh spinach and Feta egg white omletes (my favorite!) Black tea from Malotira and Loukoumades (Greek doughnuts) Eis Igian me hearties! Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.... Her reputation was her livelihood. I'm a pirate, love. By nature and by choice! My inner voice sometimes has an accent! My wont? A delicious rip in time...
William Brand Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 Ahhh, the benefits of being a guest in my own house.
William Brand Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Dorian passed a kidney stone. He gets free drinks and fare for a week. Oh...and hide the kidney pie. He needs no outward reminders.
Dorian Lasseter Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Aye! Lets drink to my stone! Drink and drink and drink... Truly, D. Silkie McDonough Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Hmmmm ....drinking to a stone. Like toasting any monument.
Red-Handed Jill Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Oi - kidney stones. I've been passing those things fairly continuously for the past three months but they've finally tapered down. Just one this week - woo hoo! (They've been small - I once had to have surgery to break up an epic-sized one that got stuck. These are a lot smaller - can't imagine that any of them were larger than half a millimeter in diameter.) Bottom line is - I can sympathise in a big way! Pyrat Rums all around!!
Red Cat Jenny Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Miss Ashcombe sets out drinks for the kidney stone sufferers.. "Cranberry juice is good for your kidneys...I don't suppose a little vodka and a twist of lime added would hurt?" Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.... Her reputation was her livelihood. I'm a pirate, love. By nature and by choice! My inner voice sometimes has an accent! My wont? A delicious rip in time...
William Brand Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Toasting the kidneys by assaulting the liver. There's a metaphor in there somewhere.
Silkie McDonough Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Maybe it is at the bottom of the glass?
William Brand Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Aye. It may very well be. And now... ...CAKE!
Dorian Lasseter Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Aye, No kidney stone is fun to pass, but I've had worse. My first was when I was 20, that had to be removed and was in the centimeter size range (!?!) I've passed about six on my own now, but haven't had any for 13 or 14 year until now. I must be doing something right. Or not. My sympathies to any and all 'Kidney stoners'. Slainte! Truly, D. William Brand Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 The cake is a green tea custard cake, and while I generally pass on tea, I think I'd have two helpings of that thing.
Red Cat Jenny Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Can I just have a bracing cup of tea and a Nilla wafer or two please? Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.... Her reputation was her livelihood. I'm a pirate, love. By nature and by choice! My inner voice sometimes has an accent! My wont? A delicious rip in time...
