William Brand Posted January 9, 2007 Author Posted January 9, 2007 If Benjamin Franklin had had his way, then the Turkey would be the National Bird. I've always wondered if we'd be able to eat them if they held that status.
Red Cat Jenny Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Gosh! that would rule out the burgers, meatballs, turkey pastrami, Jennie O turkey roast (ummm graavy) and my world famous turkey meatloaf with spinach and provolone stuffing! Plus I'd have no excuse to live on creamed onions and stuffing for the entire month of November *sigh* Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.... Her reputation was her livelihood. Ransom Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I pull up a chair, and wipe the drool from my lips. "Looks yummy, William. Are they stuffed with...turkey? " (Which I agree, is a very noble bird indeed - especially after my husband has slow-cooked one in the smoker for about eight hours! ) ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... William Brand Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 Ahh, Ransom. I'm sorry to say, and happy to say, that they are in fact lamb and not turkey. Persian cooking tends to lean towards cattle and sheep over turkey. Still, some amazing spices and a not a little meat.

Besides, anything ya cook would be good." ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold...
