PyratePhil Posted January 2, 2005 Posted January 2, 2005 My son is doing a school project on pirate history, and he (and I) have encountered a stumbling block - Who was Redbeard? The usual searches on the 'Net produce a few thousand hits for Lego sets and mixed drinks, neither of which I feel is appropriate for my son's project. Any background, links, etc. would be appreciated! ...Qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum... ~ Vegetius

Mission Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 If you try searching for the Barbarossa brothers instead of Redbeard and you'll probably miss the Lego sites. (Which is basically what Black John's link tells you.) Mycroft: "My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher, yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?" John: "I don't know." Mycroft: "Neither do I. But initially he wanted to be a pirate."
PyratePhil Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 Thanks, mates! A little voice in my head was telling me that Redbeard was Barbarossa, but I tend to try to ignore my little head voices... ...Qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum... ~ Vegetius
