Charity Posted December 4, 2004 Share Posted December 4, 2004 Hey all, i found a dvd of a new version of Treasure Island macde in 2002. Does anyone know it? It has kevin Zegers and Jack Palance in it and i have to admit i like it more then the original, it's not so romatic and sweet... more realistic pirate action. JoshuaRed Posted December 4, 2004 Share Posted December 4, 2004 Sorry Charity, I hated it. :) It ran on the various HBO channels a couple years ago, and I swear it had the budget of a six year old's birthday party. It was nigh unwatchable. Bad music, really bad acting, and no effort made for authenticity. For starters, their ship is a decidedly mid-19th century affair (it's not the one shown in the poster and movie box) and if I recall there were several shots where you could actually see machinery and safety gear on board. Second, the whole story is shot on the Isle of Man, which couldn't look LESS tropical. I know there's no accounting for taste, but I just couldn't handle this one. I just looked at it from entertaintment point of view. I honestly wouldn't know where one can get it, i just came across it by coincidence in a Dutch shop.
