Redd Oktober Posted July 9, 2004 Posted July 9, 2004 One o' me mates at work be wonderin' if there be any rowin' songs out there...He says that he knows plenty of "rope hauling" songs...but was wonderin' if there be songs of the rowing variety...or if there even is a difference. All I can remember is "Hills, Gullies" from the Moby Dick movie... Any thoughts? YARRR! The Oktober be silent now! Just call me "REDD!"
Trapper Posted July 9, 2004 Posted July 9, 2004 Well, there's "Pique La Balene", a French whaleboat rowing shanty, and there's "Mingulay Boat Song", a Scottish rowing song. The first can be found on Pint and Dale's cd, "White Horses" (a wonderful album, available at www.pintndale.com), and Mingulay can be found in instrumental form on Steve Lalor's cd, "Airs on the Acoustic Guitar", available at www.cdbaby.com Trapper Captain of the Tinker's Damn
