Yet Another Article on The Pirate Pistol, In Memory of Shipwreck

[Shipwrecks Mate]

Ahoy from Tybee Island!  Thank ye kindly for allowin' me to join this 'ere group.  I am the Mate of a pirrrate who called himself "Shipwreck," who sailed on to heavenly seas a few years ago.  This week would have marrrghked his 72nd voyage around the sun.  In his earrrthly life, he collected all manner of things piratical and rarely left them as he received them. 

This 'ere attached article he wrote, which I recently dug out of the bottom of his sea-chest, is about one of his projects featuring a reproduction "Queen Anne" Pistol.  He thought some of ye may be interested.  He intended to submit it to "No Quarter Given," which in January 2000 featured his story about the piratical watercraft featured in one of these 'ere pictures.  For whateverrrr reason, that did not happen, so I am providin' it 'ere for your perusal.

Unfortunately, I was likely on another floor of the house, or outside with the hounds, when this work was in progress.  Therefore I am unable to answer any questions ye may have.  But I hope you enjoy the article.

I actually have an old Japanese made 1976 flintlock that was manufactured for the US 1776 bicentennial. Similar to some of the issues Shipwreck had, once you've got yourself one, you see how many are out there. My pistol had some other issues though, the cock was just wrong, the frizzen was soft and wouldn't spark well and the mainspring was broke. Cascabel helped/directed a lot of similar modifications, but mainly cutting down and reshaping the stock made a whole lot of difference in appearance.
