Mary Diamond Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 Ahoy, all you tabletop gaming enthusiasts! Allow me to draw your attention to a fine game set in our wonderful Golden Age of Pyracy. https://www.firelockgames.com/bloodandplunder/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/BloodandPlunder Note these are the same fine folks that are bringing Port Royal to the table via KickStarter - see my other post noted below. Oooh, shiny!
michaelsbagley Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 I second the recommendation. I've been a player of this company's first pirate miniature game for years now, it's more of a large skirmish style game (20-30+ figures per side, although somwhat scalable).... I am even more excited about the new game than I was the original... having a small "band" size game (4 to 7 figures per side in an average game) is a lot more exciting (and likely a better entry point into the larger skirmish game, for those inclined). I too was lucky enough to squeeze in a demo at Adepticon, and it was great, and fast playing.
Stynky Tudor Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 This looks very cool...something else for me to spend money on.
Pyrate Captain Mick Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 They are excellent rules. I had a chance to play-test one of Firelock's concept games of the Napoleonic period at Gencon. As far as I could tell trying to weave between 80,000 participants, it was one of only a handful of historical games. Remembering back to when my new bride and I slept on the floor of Horticultural Hall in Lake Geneva well over 50 years ago, then, almost all games were historical, the hobby has morphed heavily. The nice thing about Blood and Plunder is that you can dust off your Old Glory pirates and use them, although re-basing to a 20mm washer might be necessary. It is a complete system with room for expansion. Firelock sells an abundance of ships, figures, game cards and dice, etc. However, on the cheap, you can use what you have and a simple deck of playing cards will work. D10's D6's and anything you want for tokens work just fine, but their product line really enhances the game. I am sincerely hoping if and when thy release Napoleonic rules it enables the play of Jean Lafitte. I always wanted to play the scenario of the Rescue of Bonaparte. Break yer mast and stays, Cap'n Mick
Patrick Hand Posted yesterday at 04:06 PM Posted yesterday at 04:06 PM I just discovered these rules... I found a pyrated PDF on-line, checked it out and promptly ordered a legitimate copy... The drawings and pictures of the minis are worth the price of the rule book. And the Rules look good. I haven't been doing any Pyrate stuff in forever, (I've been 3d sculpting minis for other RPG games, like Gamma World) So I'm going to sculpt some and 3D print and paint them for a Blood and Plunder game. I was also working on a Gamma World game on Foundry VTT, and now that I sorta know how to set it up, I've started to set-up a Blood and Plunder game that I can invite others to play a game on-line... More about that once I'm farther along....
michaelsbagley Posted yesterday at 04:11 PM Posted yesterday at 04:11 PM Dude, as an avid miniature painter, Blood & Plunder player, and soon to be "Port Royal" player, I'd be extremely interested in any models you produce. Do you sell through MyMiniFactory or elsewhere? (For reference "Port Royal" is supposed to be the pirate version of Mordheim, so Firelck games warband rules to the larger force rules B&P are).

But… won’t you consider coming out to join us again? You are missed! Oooh, shiny!
Patrick Hand Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago "Do you sell through MyMiniFactory or elsewhere?" I give away the .stl files for 3D printing on Thingiverse... Just search for 'designerpatt" Right now most of the minis are Sci/fi or Gamma World. But I have half a Pyrete sculpted in Blender so-far...(I'll post a picture when I'm farther along with it...) Mary Diamond There isn't much Pyrate stuff going on localy... When I was in "Tales of the Seven Seas" they did a lot of stuff outta the SF Bay Area... So setting up a Foundry VTT game would allow me to kinda-sorta keep in touch with Pyrate goings-on....
