Tartan Jack Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 (edited) What did you name your road vehicles? It was believed that to not name a vessel (or horse) was bad luck. That was extended to planes (hence “nose art”) & later vehicles. I think that applies to cars too. I assume many on here do to. Our modern “road-pirate-ships” I’ve always named my vehicles, whenever I drive them for more than a few days. Here’s my list: My main: 1985 Audi 5000: Spectre (thought looked like a James Bond car) 1987 VW Vanagon: Grey Ghost/Spectre II (would disappear in parking lots) 1990 Miata: ThunderSled/Fenix (after major repaint & makeover) 2009 Scion xB: Flying Brick 1995 Tacoma: Rufus (In driveway: Rufus, Fenix (until a month ago, Brick was too ….) Anna’s (wife) main: (Not name first car) 1995 Chysler Cirrus: Droopy (Timex alternative after- tornado forms above it with large hail, tree falls across it, hit by 3 other people, all with minor damage (hood replaced & repaint was sum total) 1997 Ford Taurus: Blue Oval 2004 Grand Caravan: Queen Anna’s Revenge 2017 Pacifica: Queen Anna’s Revenge II In driveway: QAR2 “Other cars” 1986 Dodge Ram (borrowed): Constipated Pig 1994 Ford Crown Vic (inherited, as thought I needed a car with more than 2 seats, replaced by xB): Cruiser 2017 Grand Caravan (in-law’s currently in our driveway): Grey Ghost II Edited September 19, 2023 by Tartan Jack -John "Tartan Jack" Wages, of South Carolina
madPete Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 I've never named any of my vehicles, bikes, guns. I know other people do, but I've just never been in the habit... Aye... Plunder Awaits!
Stynky Tudor Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I've never named any of my vehicles, swords or guns either. The short time I ran with the Tear Drop Trailer/Vintage Trailer crowd, it was definitely a thing people did and encouraged newbies to do - I never got around to it. Braze calls one of his flintlock pistols, BillyBones and I seem to remember Cascabel having a name for his blunderbuss, but I don't recall what it was. I have however been thinking about naming my blunderbuss...not sure what though.
Stynky Tudor Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 After talking with Braze further, it turns out he named his blunderbuss, Precious - My Precious.
Halfpint Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 My Suzuki Sx4 is "Stitch" (as in Lelo and Stitch, which is on my license plate as well 🙂) Blue in color... the front reminds one of Stitchs face, and has an S on it... I accessorized it with Stitch stuff too, if no one noticed... lol! My Queen Ann pistol is "the Queen", and my civil war Springfield rifle is "Jenny" 🙂

Duchess Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 My very first car was the Spruce Moose. Haven't named another since. I do have a 3lb ball pein hammer called Mr. Happy.

Morgan Dreadlocke Posted Saturday at 03:37 AM Posted Saturday at 03:37 AM Wife had a '66 Buick with the 340 wildcat motor. We called it the "Great White Landshark" cause it ate up other cars. Now have a Kia Suv that we call "The Beast" cause it weighs 5000lbs. Had many four letter names for a not long owned Buell 500. On the odd side our group has a costume named "Guido the Kneecapper". It's basically the horned helmet, chain maile and bearded axe from Frazetta's Death Dealer. PIRATES! Because ye can't do epic shyte wi' normal people.
