Picaroon Lagoon Posted April 29, 2025 Posted April 29, 2025 It probably doesn’t get said nearly enough, but thank you for that you do! You and all of the admins, moderators, and other unsung heroes who keep this site alive and thriving! “A fellow with no wish to be governed, inspected, indoctrinated, preached at, taxed, stamped, measured, judged, condemned, hanged, or shot.”

madPete Posted April 29, 2025 Posted April 29, 2025 This seems to be a recurring theme on the internet. Amazon and eBay have prompted me frequently to enter a visual code that AI bots aren't capable of distinguishing yet. I was thinking they were getting "Denial of Service DOS" attacks, but based on Stynky's observations these AI bots that scrape websites have run amuck and for all intents and purposes is essentially creating a "Denial of Service" attack. Amazon and eBay just have more resources to deal with it. So far Apr 28 and 29 have been responsive. Aye... Plunder Awaits!

William Brand Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 The Pub may be down shortly for updates and maintenance
Stynky Tudor Posted August 9, 2025 Author Posted August 9, 2025 2025 0809 PUB STATUS It appears that a recently applied maintenance/security patch has broken some minor features on our front page. If anyone is having problems, please post them here.

Stynky Tudor Posted September 3, 2025 Author Posted September 3, 2025 2025 0903 PUP STATUS So last month we had a Security Software Update that killed several navigation and information blocks, including our advertisement script. I removed the dead/broken blocks, and rebuilt the advertisement, updating the image and site URL links - it all seems to be working well. I've spent some time tidying the Gallery. There were a couple of personal galleries posted to the wrong area. I also found that I had set-up a 2012 event gallery wrong from the back-end. I tried using the CP/Control Panels to fix/move it, but couldn't get it to budge and ended up deleting it for now. I also set things up so the most recently uploaded images are displayed when clicking to the Rogue's Gallery. If anyone has any problems with the site, please chime in here.
Mary Diamond Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 Ok, back on and catching up - all seems in order, thank you for your efforts! Oooh, shiny!
madPete Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 This morning while working on evenst 8:23AM AZ time, the pub was sporadically slow again. navigating back and forth between events became pretty painful. I've not seen slowdowns lately, so dont know if backup was happening or what... Aye... Plunder Awaits!
Stynky Tudor Posted November 2, 2025 Author Posted November 2, 2025 According to our host service, there's nothing to report. The last incident reported was a server issue in Los Angeles, resolved 25 days ago. Keep me posted, it might be more AI/Bot scrappers.
Stynky Tudor Posted January 21 Author Posted January 21 Once again, sorry for the slugish web service, the site was under attack by bots. Our hosting service has started playing wackamole and seems to be making headway.

Scoggs Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Ha, that explains all the buffering the other day, I rebooted my computer thinking it was somehow on my end. I say it every day elsewhere and I'll say it here too; Fight the robots! Thank you Stynky for staying on top of that.

Stynky Tudor Posted Friday at 04:30 PM Author Posted Friday at 04:30 PM 2026 0213 - Once again, the Pyracy Pub web server was running slow this morning. I've filed another Support ticket and that already seems to be helping. Please let us know here if you're having trouble loading the Pub.
