Which is better?,

Hi I need some help I want to create my Pirate Fantasy world setting, but which is way is better, The First is original idea based on Discworld and Monkey Island Video game series it's a world in of the Golden Age of Piracy but the timeframe is 21th Century.

The Other is more Hard Historical Fantasy series like A Song of Ice and Fire series, if I did the second idea it would mean a retool and rethink my ideas, I have to create an early 18th century world and other things.

So which is better?,

Well if I do the Second type of Pirate fiction I would have renamed my Port city based on the Island of Cuba, yes I'm using the island of Cuba in my setting but not the same names for the Island. So I can't use Port Lucre which was based on Port Royal and Havana

Now the retooling would have include the Island of Youth which was Island of Pines, the Island of New Providence could be dropped on that Island several times a perfect place to set up a Pirate republic when a Governor comes to drive them out of the city.
