KW Pirate Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 I just thought that I would let everyone know that the pirate encampment and market will be moving from the seaport area to Fort Zachery Taylor this year. We will have a LOT more room for vendors and activities. If you would like more information on preforming or being a vendor, please contact Julie. Stynky Tudor Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 Arr, does that be the old fort by the airport?
KW Pirate Posted March 17, 2004 Author Posted March 17, 2004 Arr, does that be the old fort by the airport? actually, it's the fort down by Mallory Square and the Green Parrot...very convenient to my way of thinking. We will have the area from the beach concessions around the point and the entire parade area. It's a large amount of space, and hopefully we will be having some Pirate feasts there. We are also looking at anchoring the 'Wolf' and several other ships right off shore at the fort, maybe a couple of other things going on there to. I could tell ye, but then I would have to run ye thru. :) Key West Pirate The Lady Marilee pil'-lag-ing It's like looting, but the shopkeeper is watching from behind some hastily contrived shelter. hurricane Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 You can see the updated schedule for the Fort Zachary Pirate Fest at http://www.piratesinparadise.com/fort/index.html I think the synergy of having a lot of the activities in view of each other will bring larger crowds and make it a lot mroe fun for those participating - I even hear tell that the cannons will be relocated here for the sea battles and we can have black powder demonstrations on the parade grounds. We're also working on a shuttle to move event goers to and from the fort and waterfront/cruise ships, etc. -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. hurricane Posted May 15, 2004 Posted May 15, 2004 Diosa, the Goddess in the Bodice and I toured the upcoming fort space with KW Pirate and festival director Julie. You'll be pleased. Vendors and those camping in period gear will be able to set up under the trees within view of the beach. Food and eating areas are just down the way. There is also plenty of space for fight circles. The beach area will allow anchorage of two ships, The Schooner Wolf among them. And pirates will be able to row ashore from sea battles in period skiffs to the beach. And the fort is hoping some of us rogues will be willing to scale the walls of the fort after crossing the moat. There is tons of parking and the fort has easy access through the Truman Annex. Oh, and the pirates get their own part of the beach, the water is amazing and there's plenty of space to stretch our sea legs. I think you'll find the spot is better than any other faire space you've been to. It amazed us! -- -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. Black Hearted Pearl Posted May 15, 2004 Posted May 15, 2004 I am amazed that cruise lines don't seem to know about PIP. I know that Disney's Cruise Line has a Western Caribbean cruise that stops in Key West. I spoke to the reservation line and they don't have a clue about PIP. Maybe it's an Eisner thing. ~Black Hearted Pearl The optimist expects the wind. The pessimist complains about the wind. The realist adjusts the sails.
hurricane Posted May 17, 2004 Posted May 17, 2004 We have been working with the various cruise lines that will be in port during the festival and will be cluing them in this year... we want them to make their guests aware of the event and its ties to KW historically and culturally. We're also working on shuttles to run back and forth from Mallory Square... KW Pirate Posted May 20, 2004 Author Posted May 20, 2004 yup. Tis a beautiful backdrop and while we were walking thru you definately got a piratey feel. It's got a lot of room so we can spread out a bit. Hope to see everyone there!
