capnwilliam
It costs more to have a flintlock rifle or musket customized with a left- handed lock, and stock left-handed pieces are not common. I'm interested in hearing from any who have experience firing right-handed flintlocks, left-handed. Do the sparks pose any safety problem, or annoyance? Capt. Cascabel
Really more of an annoyance than a safety issue. (Unless you overload the flash pan with powder). I have known quite a few folks with the same problem. The flash going off right in front of your face takes some getting used to, however, firing from the hip solves the problem. For our purposes, we are usually firing blank loads anyhow, so there is no need to aim. >>>>> Cascabel
Cascabel
One other thing...... You need to be aware of the back blast from the touch hole, and keep you arm clear of it !!!!! >>>>> Cascabel
BILLY BONES
I've never had a problem other than scorching my beard alittle. Capt. William Bones Then he rapped on the door with a bit of stick like a handspike that he carried, and when my father appeared, called roughly for a glass of rum. This, when it was brought to him, he drank slowly, like a connoisseur, lingering on the taste, and still looking about him at the cliffs and up at our signboard. "This is a handy cove," says he, at length; " and a pleasant sittyated grog-shop. Much company, mate?" My father told him no, very little company, the more was the pity. "Well, then," said he, "this is the berth for me." Proprietor of Flags of Fortune.
