Anyone make any cockades or rosettes they would like to share? I'm curious and would like to make my own but I'm not certain where to start...

There is this old topic about cockades.... There isn't much in there about making them, but there is a little discussion towards the end about how they may have been made. Not much help, but it is a start...

I found one via that looks quite like those in the paintings on a website called the American Duchess. Looks like a lot of work, although the Duchess claims they are "surprisingly easy to make!" Claudine de Montigny gives another tutorial with a boatload of photos. (My fingertips hurt just looking at them.)

Mycroft: "My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher, yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?"

John: "I don't know."

Mycroft: "Neither do I. But initially he wanted to be a pirate."
