The making of a sword for one of me mates (Many Pictures)

Here is another sword we custom made for one of me mates. They wanted something special in a leaf guard cutlass. After asking some questions on what exactly they were looking for we found that it was to be made for battle, stage and show. After coming up with several drawings we settled on this Maple Leaf pattern and submitted it to our mate the end result is what you see here in the pictures.

It is a Double Maple Leaf guard cutlass with a 5160 full tang Carbon Steel blade, that we hand forged. The pommel we cut from a single piece of Nickel Silver. The handle is Curly Maple to compliment the Maple leaf Guard that has a set screw holding the blade securely, at the end of the pommel we cut an pommel nut as double protection for keeping her all tight. We can make any type of blade but the cutlasses for our mates is where the heart of our work is. Our swords are not cheap but they are all made for use.

Thank ye much mate! It was a pleasure to make this sword and always is when working on a blade for a mate. Looking forward to the next one that we have already started, it is a hunting style hanger cutlass. But it will take a bit o time in between custom orders.

I like your work a lot and I always enjoy progress pictures. On this one though there is something odd about how the handle meets the pommel. Perhaps a bit more taper in the handle or a larger pommel would go a long way.

Thanks for sharing and please feel free to share these in the weapons section. Share stuff here that is for sale :)

beautiful blade! I'm partial to the traditional scallop shell myself, but that is beautiful.

Thank ye Dread Pirate Greyhound...I have to admit, I also prefer the scalloped shell guard swords meself
