Capt. Bo of the WTF co. Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I found this on anonther forum and immediately thought of you William: http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/20791 For all your End of Days/Mayan Calender/Armegeddon preparation needs! Gotta be as good or better than Bacon SPAM! (SPAM= Stuff Posing As Meat). George Carlin Bo
Capn Bob Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 (edited) I've seen that product elsewhere...thought about it, but the idea of fishing around for canned bacon swimming in grease...well, not sure I'm that hungry. Bacon Spam? Never heard of it, have to take a look in the stores here. As an Army brat living in Germany, end of the month, just before paycheck, meals tended to be spam and rice-a-roni. Good, healthy food... Edited October 10, 2011 by Capn Bob Damn, thats sharp!
Bloody Bill Flint Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 I admit it gives me a chuckle to picture William: knife betwixt his teeth, M4 in hand, and an assault pack full of tactical bacon. THIS CABIN-LAD'S GROWN HAGGARD, SO IN THE POT HE GOES AND FROM HIS SKIN WE'LL MAKE A LITTLE DRUM TO BEAT AS WE FIRE HUMAN HEADS FROM CANNONS AT OUR FOES. AND SET THE SEAS ABLAZE WITH BURNING RUM.
William Brand Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 I think I missed this in October, though I have seen links to tactical bacon. My idea of tactical bacon is a trebuchet and a pig farm. Nothing hurts like being hit by pig hurled several miles through the air. You can kill your enemy with flying pigs and then cook the ammunition in celebration.
Jas. Hook Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Hummm... a new meaning to the expression "When Pigs Fly." Nothing starts the day like a little pig meat for breakfast! Damm, I even order Porkslap Pale Ale at the local cafe and on tap no less. Jas. Hook "Born on an island, live on an island... the sea has always been in my blood." Jas. William Brand Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 BACONFEST 20 is just half a year away and the locals are already talking recipes.
Jas. Hook Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 I received a post on Facebook of a photo of Redneck Turtle Burgers. Looks like a swell addition to a pirate feast. It covers your three basic food groups... beef patties, franks and bacon. Jas. Hook "Born on an island, live on an island... the sea has always been in my blood." Jas. Grymm Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) Whiskey Bacon Jam Recipe Ingredients 500g streaky bacon (it has to be streaky), chopped into small dice 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped 1 red onion, finely diced 50g brown sugar 50mls maple syrup 50ml cider vinegar 1 tbsp red wine vinegar 150ml fresh brewed coffee (NOT instant – important) 100ml whiskey of your choice (Less y'have a bottle open I wouldn't use a single malt, blended'll do) 1 fresh red chilli fine chopped, deseeded if you want less heat Method Sauté the bacon over a medium heat until starting to crisp. Take the bacon out and pour off most of the bacon fat, leaving just enough to fry the onion until soft but not coloured – about 5 minutes. Add the garlic for about a minute. Transfer the bacon, onion, garlic to a large pot with the rest of the ingredients. Simmer gently for one hour, adding a little water every 30 minutes if required (I only had to do this towards the end). Add the red wine vinegar in the last 5 minutes. Pulse it in a food processor briefly (to retain the course texture) – although it can be quite nice coarse. Ready to serve. Edited July 23, 2012 by Grymm Lambourne! Lambourne! Stop that man pissin' on the hedge, it's imported.
jendobyns Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Grymm, For those of us who are deprived of "proper" bacon in the States, can you direct us to a pic of what streaky bacon is supposed to look like? We are finally getting some stores in my area which might actually carry the right bacon. I just need a good picture for reference. Jen
jendobyns Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Grymm, Nevermind. Just located a pic of "streaky bacon" where the caption says "American style bacon". So it looks like they're one and the same. Easy for a change
Quartermaster James Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 So many bacon threads, so little time... Dinner tonight:
Jas. Hook Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Hummmmm... I thinks I might go for a peanut butter and bacon on toast for lunch. Jas. Dutchman Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 http://now.msn.com/bacon-hot-dogs-are-coming-out-from-oscar-mayer?ocid=ansnowex mmmmmm- bacon hotdogs............... i see a new camp food.
William Brand Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Hot dogs made with bacon. It makes hot dogs better, but it reduces the bacon. Of course, you can wrap them bacon dogs in more bacon.
