James Smythe
First off I am sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum... I don't really know where to put it. I am getting to a point where I can't just grow my hair on a whim anymore due to well let's say "work." My research for my MS is easier on me if I keep my hair reasonably short. I like having hair anywhere between shaggy and to the shoulders. I have recently been looking for an alternative to have the illusion of longer hair without having to grow it out. I have found queues and wigs. A site I found while perusing the pub here has both and can base it on my hair. Basically I was wondering which option would be better. I also usually use a bandanna/head-wrap that covers the top of my skull and a more sparrow style one with long hair. I have been leaning toward a full skull style though. What option would be more viable, a queue or a wig? Any suggestions and help is appreciated.
Mission
I have a queue from Madam Joan and I personally think it the better option. Wigs can be hot, itchy and expensive. MJ matches her queue to your hair color and if you wear a kerchief over it, it looks pretty natural based on the photos I've seen. (Plus it's not itchy.) Mycroft: "My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher, yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?" John: "I don't know." Mycroft: "Neither do I. But initially he wanted to be a pirate."
jendobyns
My husband and I have full wigs from Betty Myers, wigmaker in Williamsburg. He hasn't had any complaints regarding it's comfort on hot days. I only wear mine for special occasions. But I have also heard good things regarding Madam Joan's Wee Wiggies. It all depends on if you want the wig to be something you can expose to view. With the Wee Wiggies, you have to keep your hat or bandanna or whatever, on your head to hide where it attaches. So you're stuck with a potentially hot extra layer either way. Just depends on what you are comfortable dealing with and how soon you want it and your budget. I do think Betty also makes queues as well. I just don't have a specific memory of one. Jib
I'm curious where one could pick up a Restoration Era styled wing (and not need a third job to pay for it).

Capt. Bo of the WTF co.
I know the drill about long-hair yadda-yadda, but I have always asked anyone who says anything negative about my long hair to provide me with proof that the length of anyones hair has any effect on their ability to perform any task or detracts from the performance, and if so, why are women exempt? Usually dies on the spot. It is discrimination just the same as if someone were to base their bigotry on ethnicity or skin color. I am a "wears-his-own-hair" kinda person. prejudice is always a target for battle as far as I am concerned. Mission
Actually it sounds like a Java error on the web page to me. Although why you see it and I'm not makes no sense. It might be worth your while to run a virus scan on your computer. I also like to use Spy-bot from time to time to check for ad software. (Although I don't think that would cause this.) Capt. Bo of the WTF co.
With respects, I worked around (and still do)heavy machinery nearly every day with very long hair and only once did my hair get in the way, and that was when I wore my ZZ-TOP length beard and it got wrapped around the armature of a Milwaukee Hole-Hog drill while boring holes for wiring a house. All I had to do though was unplug the drill and reverse it by hand. Got a really good photo of it hanging from my chin too! Anyhow, it's your decision and if it bugs you or makes you uncomfortable around machinery then that's what counts. Bo

James Smythe
Just as an update: I went with a queue. It seemed to suit me more. When I do grow out my hair I start by chopping the hair in the back so as it grows the bangs can play catch up first. It seemed the more practical solution for the time periods that I find myself short of hair, as I know that I will most likely grow my hair back at a later date
