Silkie McDonough
Someone out there gave me a link for an image of an Ordinary a few years back. It was a drawing of people under a canvas canopy that was in amongst the trees. I am NEED of that image. I will take any images that you would like to share also. Capt. Bo of the WTF co.
I did a google search for 18th century taverns, there are lots of images there, I don't have enough time to search them all, but here is the link: http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&source=imghp&q=18th+century+taverns&gbv=2&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&oq= and I did 17th century too, found this outdoor one: http://www.artknowledgenews.com/files2010feb/17-century-outdoor-tavern-scene.jpg and the link to the google images for 17th century taverns: http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&source=imghp&q=17th+century+taverns&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq= Hope you find the one you need. hurricane
What is that game they are playing with the post and the balls? It seems sort of like Bocce, though Bocce doesn't use a post. -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. Grymm
Looks like a variant of bowls but using a post rather n a jack, closest to the post gets the points. I've seen a muddyevil version were they are bowling at a feather stuck in the ground. Lambourne! Lambourne! Stop that man pissin' on the hedge, it's imported. hurricane
I may have to appropriate the balls from the bocce court and have a go at it. Like the feather idea. Thanks! -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. jendobyns
Do you remember anything else, like wether it was English or Dutch? I've done some digging in the Dutch Genre book but not a tavern so far like that (dentists, however, seem pretty fly-by-night). Was the pic among those links posted earlier? Silkie McDonough
I recall little else. Men at tables. Women, don't recall if the woman was seated or serving. It was a pencil or charcoal drawing but I recall nothing else.
