Trapper
The Wawona was launched in 1897, and at the time was the largest 3 masted schooner built in N. America. Now she's the last survivor of the once immense Pacific Northwest commercial sailing fleet. She's done everything from haul lumber to carrying salt cod, with a stint as a military barge in WWII. Now the "Powers That Be" have decreed that since she's in need of restoration work, and therefore rather down at the heels, she's not pretty enough to be on Lake Union and must move. Without a berth and workshop, we will lose an incredibly important piece of our maritime heritage. So, we're havin' another benefit to raise money and public awareness to repair this grand old lady and keep her right where she is. We'll be having great live music and a benefit auction on Friday, April 16th, 8:30 to 12:30, at the Highliner Pub & Grill at Fisherman's Terminal, Seattle. We'd love to see fellow brethren of the sea there to lend some aid, and have an ale...or two. The evening will feature the fabulous, internationally acclaimed William Pint and Felicia Dale, as well as Dan Roberts, Mariide Widmann and possible surprise appearances by Victory Sings at Sea and Broadside. There's no cover charge, as we'll be passin' the pitcher an' havin' an auction. Ye can post questions here or be emailin' me. An' if ye'd like t' read more on the Wawona, ye can check out www.nwseaport.org Fair winds, Trapper Captain of the Tinker's Damn

Trapper
So, if'n ye be out on the Eastern Seaboard, be ye anywhere near Bath, Maine, Cambridge MA, or Guilderland NY? Tom Lewis is doin' a tour out there later this month, an' I'll be taggin' along doin' some vocal support. In the meantime, I've given yer suggestion t' the Seaport people, an' they be goin' about a way to send money fer fixin' up the grand old lady Wawona. It should be a rousin' good evenin' o' music, fer any that's about on April 16th. Trapper
Now as it's gettin' closer t' the day, I'd be tellin' ye that the great, internationally famed shantysingers, Pint and Dale will be headlinin' our benefit concert. They have several fine cds out, and can be checked out at their webiste, www.pintndale.com. We also have a rare reunion of the "Victory Sings at Sea" crew, an amazing group of singers from many fine groups, including Dan Roberts, Phillip and Teresa Morgan, William Pint, Felicia Dale, and many others in the process of confirming. All of this, an auction and opened by Mariide Widmann, reknowned shanty singer and former leader of "St Elmo's Choir". The beer will be flowin', the food be tasty, the entertainment amazing and the cause worthwhile. There be no cover charge, as we'll be passin' the pitcher fer donations. Hope t' see some o' ye there. Trapper
News! The Patrick O'Brian Fan Club is very interested in not only coming to the benefit, but working on the Wawona as well. And, as an added bonus, one of the technical directors from Master and Commander is interested as well. This promises to be a great night and, hopefully, some great publicity for the Wawona. Trapper
Just wanted to get this at the top o' the list one last time before the event. Any pirates in the area would be most welcome t' come down in costume an' add a little local "colour" t' the event. They've got Guinness and a fine porter on tap, great food, entertainment that'll have ye wishin' fer a tall ship t' sail on, a raffle an' an auction fer some great booty. So come down an' lend the old girl Wawona a hand. Fair winds, Trapper Captain of the Tinker's Damn
