wes1761 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Working on a coat, linen liner with wool outer. Using a JP Ryan pattern which I no longer have. Can anybody advise a way to get the pleats right on the back? I have tried several different ways and cannot seem to get the pleats to lay right or the back of the skirts to look right.....getting a tad frustrated!! Thanks!! wes1761 Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 There were directions, but I put the coat up for a bit..needed a break from handstitching. I am hoping for a picture of a similar coat so I can see how they lay and take it from there. I am a visual learner I guess.....a thick headed, refer to directions to see what I did wrong visual learner!! Here is the coat thus far: I have added cuffs and started adding the stand up collar.....Pleats...AAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! If it was raining soup, I'd be stuck outside with a fork.....

Spitfire Stevens Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 To help the pleats stay, I iron in a pleat crease, then hand stitched as close to the edge as I could to secure the crease. Makes it really easy to iron. Just pull the hem down and press! Spitfire Stevens
