Animal

Recommended Posts

Hey all, it's about a week away and I'm still getting things ready. Here's my list of things to finish:

Vest

Foot Wear

Scabbard

Haversack

What do you still need to finish before heading down for the family reunion???

Animal

Note: Finished everything but the haversack and footwear. Making a pair of moccasins from a pig hide I got from Sutler Jim. Going to have to buy a haversack down there, Not enough time left.

I have to finish doing the template webpage for the Surgeon's Journal so half the work is done before I get there. Other than that, all I have to do is pack.

Mycroft: "My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher, yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?"

John: "I don't know."

Mycroft: "Neither do I. But initially he wanted to be a pirate."

Let's see...

  1. Teach Animal the new songs I decided to add at the last minute (sorry Animal, may be one more today to add).
  2. Come up with all the "person, places, things" for the Tall Tales Freestyle.
  3. Get the stage information to the Montessori kids doing a presentation on Wrecking Saturday.
  4. Make sure all the awards are correct.
  5. Coordinate the PA system for the stage.
  6. Make sure my dozen crew members know where they're going and what they're doing.
  7. Finish the sailing schedule for the WOLF.
  8. Clean the guns.
  9. Create the stage poster for the entertainment schedule.
  10. Make the last updates to the PiP website.

I think that's it off the top of my head.

I've got to make:

Cross' chargers ......... check

some more baldrics ... with the new authentic British Buckles ..... check

some leather coin purses ....... check

Anything else that strikes my creative fancy .......check

Find the tent ....... found it! and all the poles, ropes, and stakes

Pack the truck ....... almost done, will be leaving in a couple hours.

I think the pot of espresso is ready, gonna go make "cafe con leche" and fresh cuban toast and make some sawdust. Glad it's my day off!!

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone, it's been a helluva year ......

Roll the Nutlogs (don't even dare respond to this one, Animal!)

Yeah, about that not responding....you knew I would. You'll have to wait until I get there to roll me into a log, better make it a BIG tree. Just think of the feet the squirrels will have with all us nuts down there.

8 - Finish my notebook

"What's that," he asked, agog with curiosity.

Infinitely more interesting than it sounded. It's just a blank notebook of linen rag paper bound in leather. Simple. Functional. I keep one pocketed for jotting down names, notes, and information at PIP that needs to be remembered or reiterated at the time or stored after. The 'logbook' and 'ledgers' are probably next year's project, unless I suddenly get more time to work on them before PIP.

Shay had to remind me of my real world responsibilities (I'll get you back, Shay :).

I'm always amazed that my clients seem to know I'm about to leave town, as if it's a sixth sense. Always before PiP I get slammed with new client projects. I never tell them I'm leaving, but the S**T always hits the fan before PiP for some reason.

Oh, calamity!!

Just got word from Capt. Jack that my custom, one of a kind, much-much-fretted-over pirate hat will NOT be done for PiP.

&%&$#@%$# .. . half of my motivation to go to PiP has vanished ... seriously.

How do you mend a broken heart?

While you may be saddened you do not have the hat waiting for you to show off at PIP, rest assured, once you arrive and begin meeting all of your new pirate family, your heart will be intact and filled!

This pirate family has that effect!

But seriously, do you need a hat? I'm not wearing my tricorn this year and your welcome to borrow it.

Drat.... Don't think I will be mailing my Doglock afterall.... It would cost about $65.00 to get it there, and another $65.00 to get it back..... I can think of a buncha things I could buy for about $130.00.... If it wasn't for the snow, I could have gone over to Sonora and purchased a smaller gun case, and brought the Buss, or a pistol and payed for the "carry-on".... but now it's too late....

I will be mailing my machetti and knives tho.....

Oh yeah.... I think the tarp is in storage..... so I probably won't get rained on afterall........ :D
