Guest Angus MacVox
I don't know the rules etc, but there are various card games, there's something called "Shut the Box" and a game called "Sharkbait" - no doubt there are many more (I'm sure there was plenty of time to kill between plundering and pillaging). Here are some pictures from a fabulous looking pyrate party for inspiration: http://www.portroyalprivateers.org/edmt02.htm http://www.portroyalprivateers.org/edmt.htm
Jamaica Rose
If yer wanting to have a rip-roaring party, you'll find a treasure chest full of party ideas in our article "Throwing a Buccaneer Bash" at: http://www.noquartergiven.net/articles.htm As for gaming rules, try: http://www.lepg.org/games.htm Or there's an article in the May 1997 No Quarter Given issue called "Games Pirates Played" - includes rules to "Shut the Box" and others. While that issue is no longer available as a single back issue, it is available in the NQG Collected Volume 4 (1997) Blackheartedly yrs, --Jamaica Rose --Jamaica Rose Editor of No Quarter Given - since 1993 http://www.noquartergiven.net/ "Bringing a little pirate history into everyone's life" Find No Quarter Given ... on Facebook: facebook.com/noquartergiven ... and on Twitter: @NoQuarterGiven
Bilgemunky
I'm working on a pirate party m'self and have come up with a few ideas. First, I went to a craft store and bought up a whole mess of used fishing net (yeah, they actually sell that at Michaels.) I'll be hanging that from the bulkhead and filling it with starfish, bos'n's whistles, glass floats, and the like. I also picked up a cheap-o ship's wheel, which I stained, affixed candles, and lashed to the overhead as a chandelier. My goal is to make m'quarters look as much as possible like a shipwreck turned inside out. I AM BILGEMUNKY

Booga
Well, depending on the age of the participants of the party of course, you should have rum and grog. To make it a little bit extra use white rum and pour in just a little bit of gunpowder into it(old "black-powder" not the new smokeless kind) and let it stand for a few weeks so the powder mixes good with the rum. It actually makes a difference in taste. And everybody knows that pirates drank it that way One nice way of making grog is to mix 1/3 of powdered rum and 2/3 of ale(more ale of you want to stay sober longer...). It´s a strong and quite tasty grog. Some kind of stew to eat and a lot of fruits to eat. Try to keep it somewhere where you can have a live fire. It does a lot for the ambience. Try to use wooden or metal plates and drinking vessels. Just a few tips that have made our pirate-punk-parties great here in the snowy north :)
