A Future Adventure

I've had on me brain, fer a few years now, a trip of such magnitude that it would make the most deadly of sea creatures shutter in envy. At some point, when the time is best for the taking, I plan on heading to Venezuela, acquiring a boat (or hitching a ride), and setting sail, destination Miami. I'll follow the islands 'round the Caribbean, taking my time. It will be a great adventure!

Anyone have any dream trips that they really are hoping to go on?

I'm trying to set up a real Pirate-themed town...somewhere. I need some help with it.

Barnstormed around the US for a month in a small plane. I'll probably do that again sometime in the future, possibly extend that down to the Caribbean.

I'm finishing a restoration on my boat and upon completion the trip I want to make is the "Great Eastern Circumnavigation". That's up the Hudson, through the Erie Canal, the Lakes on to the Mississippi. Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico. Cruise the "Redneck Riviera" on down to the Big Bend and Florida's West Coast. At that point it's either through the Callusahatchie to Lake Okeechobee and the Loxahatchee or on down to the Keys. I'll be leaving from and returning to North Carolina.

As a younger man I sailed offshore to the Caribbean, the Bahamas. Sailed from New England to Bermuda and thought we'd never see land or another dawn! We did! I've sailed through the Panama Canal and across the Pacific to the Marquesas, French Polynesia then up to Hawaii. As a delivery crew man and later Captain, I logged several thousands of miles, all the while making a living.

My "Dream" cruise for the future is to ship my boat, deck freight on a container ship to Europe. Then spend several years criss crossing th3e canals of the Continent in the summer and digging the Med in the winter. In these three score years I've been around I've lived several of my dreams. I'm most grateful for that. I have also continued to reach for my new dreams with the same hope as always.

Headed to Thailand late fall/ early winter. The goal is to attempt some sea kayaking. Of course visit the temples and night markets.

I just read about the Star Clipper (I think that was the name of the company) tours of Thailand in 'Islands' magazine. Looks beautiful there.

Well, it's not the Caribbean but taking a press gang to Oregon to do a pirate dinner show for a casino up there. Getting paid to fly across the country with my closest friends, write a three act play and perform it and then hang around the next day and play with the general public. I'm good with that these days. Very blessed. Although I have to laugh that when I lived in Seattle they flew me to the Caribbean to do this and not that I'm in Florida they're flying us back the other way.

Hangin at Execution dock awaits. May yer Life be a long and joyous adventure in gettin there!
As he was about to face the gallows there, the pirate is said to have tossed a sheaf of papers into the crowd, taunting his audience with these final words:

"My treasure to he who can understand."

But will you t take me to a pirate thing in your little rubberband-run driven prop plane? Noooooo....

:P

I want to go to the South Pacific some day. I want to see some of the islands that figured into WWII. See the lush flora and fauna and whatever else that I happen to find in these places.

I also want to dive in Papau, New Guinea on this site:

John: "I don't know."

Mycroft: "Neither do I. But initially he wanted to be a pirate."

Aye, a dream .... I have one 'n' she be a simple one - to raise a crew and sail out agin' the M.S. Kenora next season. There be pockets laden with coin waitin' to be lightened but ... a crew? There are them who've a mind fer it but be too long in the tooth 'n' there be them of stalwart build who don't have the heart fer it! Beginnin' to wonder if'n it'll be one ol' hag agin a whole ship .... maybe them be even odds?

Dreams? A sea cruise or something... or, also, having the opportunity to participate (even watch, if nothing more ...active) at a pirate festival like you are describing...

More feasible ones? To have "a crew" with whom to write all the Age of Sail adventures I'm thinking about (and many others suggested by the crew)... and also to continue writing my stories...
