I was fortunate enough, when still single and in possession of some disposable income, to be able to buy one of Leonard Day's Dutch muskets. Yes, it was a bit pricey, but there is no substitute for the satisfaction of holding a completely unique piece of art in your hands. Even when I see one like it at an event, I still know mine at a glance.

Good thing I stocked up on fun reenacting stuff when I could, because I'm sure broke now!

Red Sea Trade

In days of old when ships were bold just like the men that sailed 'em,

and if they showed us disrespect we tied 'em up and flailed 'em,

often men of low degree and often men of steel,

they'd make you walk the plank alone or haul you 'round the keel.

That particular Leonard Day is a production musket for him (or as close to one as he gets), as I see them almost everywhere... And every time I see it, I want it and mourn not being able to get it. ;)

But that French Rifle.... That is a true thing of beauty, if only it weren't priced like an original! ;)

Sorry to break it to you Mickey if that was an original you'd be quadrupling the price. The last one like that that I saw at auction went for over $45,000.
