Korisios
The trimming on hats and uniforms for decoration and showing ones rank. Would it most likely be just yellow ribbon or would some kind of golden ribbons, lase or cords be used?
PoD
I was after somewhere that did actual period correct trims but couldnt find any suppliers. I found these sites that do really good trims though: http://www.militarymetalwork.co.uk/categories.php?cat=1 http://www.targettrim.com/index.php?cPath=57 http://www.epicmilitaria.co.uk/section.php/142/1/tresse--braids--ribbons http://vintagesupplyco.com/ribbons.htm ...and then I discovered the wine... Hawkyns
Are you talking officer or enlisted? Officers would have bullion tape, either silver or gold, depending on regimental requirements. Enlisted trim was most commonly worsted wool tape in the appropriate colour to the regiment. 96 Storehouse, Angela Trowbridge, Reconstructing History all carry some of the tapes, mostly in the wools. Proper bullion tape is very hard to get and expensive. Hawkyns Cannon add dignity to what otherwise would be merely an ugly brawl I do what I do for my own reasons. I do not require anyone to follow me. I do not require society's approval for my actions or beliefs. if I am to be judged, let me be judged in the pure light of history, not the harsh glare of modern trends.
