Not being argumentative here, really. It's just that I have been given to understand that the boxlock, though developed in the second quarter of the 18th century, didn't become popular/common until the last quarter of the 18th century. The 16th century seems very early for such a lock.

The 16th century seems very early for such a lock. no sir your correct the oldest i found was a 1740s when i read what i posted i instantly seen the flaw in my words. . . my time frame was way off so i cahange my way off dated to 18th and 19 century and ask for a pardon for my "dumb" history moment..
