Jack Roberts
So I just finished refurbishing this antique machine. It's a Singer, model 127. Made in 1924! It runs beautifully. I can't wait to sew some real projects on it. (My apologies to my Facebook friends, they've seen this already.) and a Video of it running. Ransom
Wow, it looks just like mine! However, I think mine is older. Going by the serial number, and the fact that there is a B in front of the number, mine was build between 1904-1905. But it looks like the gold leafing design is the same? Are yours Egyptian-type designs? Mine is currently in need of rehabing, but all the parts move. I just have to unfreeze the footplates so I can get the shuttle out and see if it is still good. Oh, and I need a belt. Right now I have a lot on my plate, but as soon as things ease up a bit, I'm going to start working on it and get it running. It will be fun to compare the projects we do on these old girls. ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... You can do everything right, strictly according to procedure, on the ocean, and it'll still kill you. But if you're a good navigator, a least you'll know where you were when you died.......From The Ship Killer by Justin Scott. Commodore Swab
Shay has been helping with the sewing of much of my clothes using her faithful singer. It is a bit newer as it is one of the very first models that is electric, but still almost identical and the only machine she uses.
blackjohn
That's awesome! Bravo! My dad still has my grandmother's Singer, which looks to be the same model as this. I hope to inherit it someday, and give it a home like you have done with this one. My Home on the Web The Pirate Brethren Gallery Dreams are the glue that holds reality together.
