Traveling through at least half a dozen states, and wanting to be relatively self sustaining, is their use a viable option? found at Smoke and Fire and many other colonial sutlers. As an note, they would have to be left out in open site throughout the days as our tents are too small to hide one in on top of the rest of our gear... Not to mention the potential fire hazard of doing so. And the greater ease of being able to find and transport charcoal, and saving us the risk of trying to find firewood over the last leg of the journey and not risking breaking who knows how many state laws if we tried to bring it through several states. As I recall we spent some time figuring out how to cover them last year.
