Commodore Swab
Any ideas where I can get a pair of boots like that? They look very similar to period spanish sea boots (not bucket boots).
callenish gunner
You can often find old boots in the Goodwill or Salvation Army Thrift stores for a few dollars(usually under $5). I'll keep an eye out for them at the ones around here and post any that I can find.
Capt. Bo of the WTF co.
I'm doin the same thing with a pair of square-toe harness boots. I'm going to extend the toungue and add latchets, but mine will be tied instead of bucleed. Nice work! Bo
Commodore Swab
If you come across any I would be interested. Our only salvation army store has prices higher than the stores.

Capt. Bo of the WTF co.
Try Google enter vintage boots. I just deleted the site I used from my favorites or I'd post a link. There were several pairs of ACME harness boots, and some Landis ones too. Just found these...dangitt! Wish I had the bucks to put down for these! http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/vintage-harness-motorcycle-boots-chocolate-suede-mens-9-by-purevintageclothing-on-etsy They'd be perfect for modification. Found the other site too: http://www.monstervintage.com/ I used "vintage harness boots" as the search and got LOTS of hits. Bo Edited September 17, 2009 by Capt. Bo of the WTF co. casketchris
i wonder if they were to be tarred or painted black with a few coats if it would camouflage the seam on the side of the shoe from the heel cap to the latches. . . just an idea/thought Nautical acquisition and redistribution specialist
