Black Seal Rum

Ever tried Black Seal Rum? Got a bottle from a shipmate. Drank it a weekend past with before mentioned shipmate and a few friends. It was so tasty we drank the whole bottle in a few hours. I guess it is a nicely priced rum too!

To quote....... somebody.... "Funny ol' world, innit?"

I just picked up a bottle... had a bad day at work and after work...

So far I really like it.... smokey flavour... you can taste the molasses as an aftertaste (well,I can)...

I recommend it as well... Mind you, I'm not a huge drinker, nor ummm... 'Rum Snob'...

Slainte!

Black strap and black seal have a somewhat similar molasses flavor, with Seal having notably more "bite" than strap.

I like them both, but generally prefer Strap for armchair sipping.

Ginger beer! Been drinking the stuff since I was naught but a young sprout!

Used to be hard to come by, Cock & Bull being the only brand about.

Nowadays it's not hard to find. If you like your ginger, try some of Reed's Extra.

And as to the Gosling's, that's my usual rhum of choice. But I think they're making the bottles smaller these days; they just don't seem to go as far as they used to.

Any idea where to find Ginger Beer?

Check out your supermarket's Hispanic section. They generally have a brand or two. Just make sure it says ginger BEER.

Aye, as opposed to Ginger Ale fer sure, but some of the new trendy stuff does call itself Ginger Brew...

Now, that said, I've got to keep a weather eye open for Jarritos Ginger Beer!

Ever had the 151 Black Seal? It'll knock Yer eyebrows off! Tried mixing it with apple cider, and cinnamon, and it was still toxic! The 80 proof is good stuff though. Matusalem Gran Reseva 15 yr. old has become my new standard. it is getting easier to find than any of the others without travelling 60 miles to an up-scale liquor specialty store.
