Capn' Mac Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 So carrying over from the recent projects thread, I've been having much silly fun with boxes of late. I found a great resource for pine wine boxes from the local booze shop as well as Michael's and Hobby Lobby craft stores. So today I finished up my by-level cargo box: This is a recent wine and goblet box: One of my wife's many cook/spice boxes: Our game box: I've two more mine boxes to convert and a crate. Whoohoo! Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be pirates.
Ransom Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Those are great! I really like the woodburning art. Great job and very inspirational for the rest of us. Oh, and how kewl, someone else who likes Pimms! LOL ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... You can do everything right, strictly according to procedure, on the ocean, and it'll still kill you. But if you're a good navigator, a least you'll know where you were when you died.......From The Ship Killer by Justin Scott. Capn' Mac Posted June 24, 2009 Author Posted June 24, 2009 Thank ye much! Oh there's not much more on a hot summers day that I like more than a Pimms and iced tea! Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be pirates.
Ransom Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Hmmm, I've never tried it with iced tea. I use Vernors Old Fashioned Ginger Ale, and a slice of lime. Yum! ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... You can do everything right, strictly according to procedure, on the ocean, and it'll still kill you. Ivan Henry aka Moose Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Funny! I've been making boxes for gear as well lately. I recognize the top one from Michael's - took a good look at that one myself and ended up making something similar out of cheap rough lumber. I'll have to get some pics. Good stuff. CaptainSatan Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Nice work! Wooden boxes beat the hell out having plastic boxes cluttering your shore camp As we say in Ireland let's drink until the alcohol in our system destroys our liver and kills us.
JohnnyTarr Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Looks great. I am so jelous. I could make the box but not the cool woodburning. Git up of your asses, set up those glasses I'm drinking this place dry.
Capn' Mac Posted June 28, 2009 Author Posted June 28, 2009 Thank ye again all. The wood burning is actually easier than you'd think. I’d recommend picking up a cheap set from a local hobby shop and practicing. It’s fun and oddly relaxing. I got the work done on my smugglers box while watching Master and Commander. Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be pirates.
