Ivan Henry aka Moose
PIP will be the wife and I first encampment (can't wait) We are amassing a good amount of household items, just looking for the most important part - a tent. I would really like a wall tent, but would consider a good deal on a wedge if it's big (I'm 6'3"). Help is appreciated.

Dutchman
hey mate, grace and i have a 8x8x7 wall tent and it barely works for us. of course you have to take into account the bed, the mattress, carpets, vanity, sea chests, air conditioner... aw heck, nevermind. the tent fills up fast so if you can swing it, buy one a little larger than you think you may need so you don't have to upgrade later. Dutchman
mad dogge, how can i say this without getting into trouble.......you've seen our tent and what gets packed into it. I'm simply saying things tend to multiply and spread out sometimes.

Sjöröveren
Red Bess & I have a 10.5x12 from Fall Creek Sutlery. They seem to have the best prices around, and I don't think the quality suffers for it. It does fill up pretty fast, like bbcddutchman said, especially with 4 of us, all on cots. (Our sleeping setup is still modern. We only keep the outside looking period, for now.) I'd like to get another one of the same size, then join the 2 tents with a fly between them. I've seen this done at several events, and it looks real cozy. I'd assume that you'd be using it in PA as well as in Florida, so I would highly recommend getting a sod cloth and a hole for a stove flue. That way you could use it even in the cold months. the Fool's Gold Pirates
Silkie McDonough
I purchased my fly from Tentsmiths I am very happy with it and have heard from others about the quality of their tents.
Ivan Henry aka Moose
Thanks all! I'm impressed with how cool everyone is and eager to help! My first choice would be a used one, so if anyone spots one out there, please PM me. Thanks again!
callenish gunner
Finding a used tent is not always easy or timely ...it happens at random ....good luck with it!!!
silas thatcher
stumbled across mine on craigslist here in st. louis... in case you don't know about craigslist, there are listings for practically every city... might give that a try :)
