callenish gunner Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Those little parklettes are lit up like daylight with at least a dozen lamp posts surrounding them all night long with lots of speeding traffic 20 feet from your beds. I would suggest moving the magazine closer to the marina instead of the street ...consider roping off some of the access paths to secure the camp. The end of the ground closest to the hotel is the most open for public access keeping the hide to that end makes the most sense with the remaining fly used for crew shade and food prep ....just suggestions
MarkG Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 so there may be six pressed men (including their ladies)?? Need to know as Camp Mom wants a roster... I would rather put them down and not have them show, then have them show and she doesn't know about them....Mark and I have been dealing with the boat, haven't gotten measurements for the canvas as of yet, but I will go and double check... More like 16x16. The shade fly is the same again but there is some overlap. Figure 16x30. Mark
Cheeky Actress Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 And there has to be a bleeding lamppost right in the middle of camp... wonder if they can turn that off at night... I think I am going to box Pern's ears... Think of it as a giant night-light, Captain. Member of "The Forsaken"
Capt. Sterling Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Damnation... even with one eye, I casn't sleep with the bloody lights on... I found your pictures of your tent. Thanks mate! Edited May 14, 2009 by Jack Roberts
Capt. Sterling Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 (edited) I am hoping that the center pole of the Hide will make that lamp post less noticable... ha, ha.. Jack, my thinking is, keep the tents away from the street as much as possible, God forbid some drunk decides to drive up on the sidewalk... the Hide will quiet down when everyone goes to bed so that should be the safest there. Mark G's tent is almost as big as the Hide, so put it in the corner and let him keep his fly for folks that don't want to be in the Hide or just need a bit more "privacy" Fortunately that part of the docks was a whole lot quieter than the other end near the showers last year. The demos will go under Flies 1 blocking access to the magazine. Wedge 3 will be storage and no one will be living in it, which will also help block off the magazine. We can place the cargo items between the flies 1 and the Hide and use that area for a fight circle IF there is ample room once everything is in place... We will rope off all entrance ways, including make a rope gate way to control the peds.. The fire pit itself will most likely only need about a six foot square. I am putting the spit over it so it makes life easier for cooking, hanging pots, etc... yeah it will look stupid, but we want to eat and make life easier for them that are cooking... The galley boxes will go near the pit most likely near the closest end of the Hide. Edited May 14, 2009 by Capt. Capt. Sterling Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 You want to steal Pern, yer on yer own... I don't want him... especially since we can't do a hanging in Hampton. Kate Souris Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Hey Sterling....I asked Mickey to relay this but I guess he forgot.... As far as food-age goes....we have a TON of oatmeal that we would be willing to donate to the breakfast cause if that would help. We bought so much for PiP and forgot to bring it so its still all sealed up in our pantry....
Lily Alexander Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Rubs off eh? I suppose so. But that's why you love us Just don't get too close, it might rub off on you too. If you're gonna give me a headache, please bring me an aspirin! http://www.forttaylorpyrates.com/
Kate Souris Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 We have a wedge, not a wall. Does that help? I dunno where the wall tent came from. Mark G. has that pavillion thing and if the other set of friends comes, they will have a wedge also.
Lily Alexander Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Isn't the storage tent the powder tent? If you're gonna give me a headache, please bring me an aspirin! http://www.forttaylorpyrates.com/
Jack Roberts Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 Ummmm, I think we are going to rig some canvas up for the Powder and use the wedge as extra storage. Thanks Kate. I will change it on the next version. I'm going to wait on further input before I dive back into the drawing. Besides that gives me extra room and the wedges can pretty much go anywhere.
Lily Alexander Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 (edited) Here's an idea Jack. Take little pieces of paper with all the tents, powder, pits, hide and anything else that goes in our area. Toss them up in the air and where ever they land that's where they go. Jack Roberts Posted May 15, 2009 Author Posted May 15, 2009 LoL! Thats pretty much what I'm doing only digitally. I just wish I had CAD. That would make things much easier. Then I could get exact measurements of every tent with ropes and save them as objects for later. Oh I would need to learn CAD though.
