Capt. Sterling
Tis a baby thing Hugh, surely ye can relate? Capt. Sterling
Ah I think tis all right placing it here as it pertains only to Blackbeard's event... and since we're stealing the show... ahem... oops... Capt. Sterling
When I speak, everyone listens, then they talk about me behind my back! This just gives em more fodder... Capt. Sterling
Did I mention I have a wonderful spy network as well? Jack Roberts
Hey everybody check the top post. I've updated it.
Lily Alexander
Jack, great job and thanks for the planning. The only thing I might change is the placement of the wedge tent. Perhaps someplace not so close to street traffic. Silkie McDonough
I like the second. keeps the crowds of the camping with only a few places blocked. However it does make it easy for someone to sneak in behind the tents. I know we are making shade & keeping us all together so this maximizes the shade. However is it the best for living history? We will need shade for the living history things My thought is that the Hide is a business and the tents are ...well residences. The Hide can be used for Lilly to display & work with her games, for pirates to relax, smoke pipes only, (maybe we can add a smoking fly?), Drink, eat, etc. and a close place for fighters to rest between bouts. I am thinking the Hide should be against the Hedge where the wedge tent is indicated. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of having the hide with the other tents but I don't know how practical it is. Any one else have input?
michaelsbagley
Jack, I sent the dimensions to Sterling, but they may have gotten lost in all the other items we discussed. My new wedge tent is a standard 7' X 7' X 7' wedge (+/- a few inches here or there). There may be a second wedge of the same size (and perhaps two) depending on whether a couple of extras are able to show up or not. Thanks for putting this together! And I too also like the second layout better than the first.
Capt. Sterling
Jack, m'boy, not ignoring this... but have no way at work to draw pictures ... a bit regimental(regimental would suit Mickey fine if he is going red coat) and we do need to set up, unfortunately, a more stage like, ugh, setting for the living history... as to the powder magazine, I am not too certain about having it by the street... we would need to police smokers walking past it... hmmm will give some suggestions when I get home as well as get Mr. March's wall tent size... I do like having the living tents in the space indicated in the second pictures, but I think we may be moving the Hide a bit and the flies in order to use as much of the space and set up the demos in order to give room for the crowds to move about them comfortably. Silkie as to worrying about folks moving behind the tents, the bushes should help and when we are busy we can always stake the back doors shut... As to that wedge, we want it close but not too close and some place we can easily keep an eye on it... Jack Roberts
Well according to my measurements from google earth, it's only 40 feet wide from the inside of the bushes. Crap now that I'm thinking about it I won't be able to get 3 10x14 wall tents side by side. Back to the drawing board. Updates to come.
Capt. Sterling
I will see if I can get Camp Mom to send some one over and take a few measurements, but in the mean time we will work off of the google earth stuff....as long as we can see that we can fit things and from the look of your first two attempts we should have plenty of room... we can always fine tune once Mr. O'Keeffe gets in and walks it off... Capt. Sterling
Like version three better... um what is that patch of ground surrounded by bushes behind the magazine? Any idea using google earth? can folks get in there to smoke? Lily Alexander
Looking good Jack. Would it be possible to exchange the magazine for one of the wedges? This way the wedges can also provide shade for it? Kate Souris
Jack, I can't see the map very well on my Blackberry, but did you get the dimensions for Mark G's tent? It was posted somewhere....can't remember where though.
Dutchman
the patch is a walkway behind the magazine and yup people can smoke there. the bushes are those thick low ones so i doubt people will cut through them. I'd petition off the open areas between the shrubs. might want to jamb a wall tent against it sideways and make some strategic barriers.
michaelsbagley
Perhaps adding a short list of whose tents are accounted for to the bottom of the first post might help keep that clear? That way we can all point and laugh at those who haven;t gotten their tent dimensions in or not yet.
Jack Roberts
Haha nice Mickey! Ok seems like everyone is liking v3. Except for the Powder Mag. Thanks Dutchie for the info. Kate haven't seen the Dim's on Mark's tent. Point me in the right direction or email (or PM) me. Keep a whether eye on the first post. Changes to come.
